I think Thanksgiving dinner is somewhat overrated. While certainly awesome, it pales in comparison to our family's New Year's Eve meal.

I think the greatness of a specific holiday dinner depends on your nationality and family traditions.

Yeah probably. I'm certain many families aren't even together on New Year's Eve. My family always is. We're together for Thanksgiving and Christmas too, but I don't know...we just always go balls out for NYE.

Since 3/4 of my family is in retail Thanksgiving has always just "been there" for us. My girlfriend's family is the opposite. Thanksgiving is apparently more special to them than Christmas. Her mom goes all out. Apparently she's already baked cookies and 5 pies this past weekend in preparation. I'm excited for the food, but not hanging out all day. Ha.

              Re: Uncommon Opinions

Thanksgiving has always been the big food holiday for my immediate family. The fiancee's family is big on Christmas Eve. They're Italian and practice the traditional seven fish dinner. We will be continuing that tradition when they come to visit us for Christmas. Which stinks for someone like me who is extremely picky when it comes to the sea food he eats.

Only thing worth it about Thanksgiving for me are the days off.

She's already made baked goods for a month from now? Freezing them, I hope? Haha.

I've never heard of this New Year's Eve "meal" you speak of. We just always ate junk and party food.

My grandma makes this pumpkin soup gumbo thing for New Years each year. Its to die for. One of the best things about NYE for me.

The only bad part is that its made in the biggest pot ever and you pretty much only eat that for the following 2-3 days because there is so much of it lol.

It's an Armenian thing. The drummer from one of my old bands is Armenian and he and his family went bonkers and threw huge parties every new year.

I mean, it's not a specific entree or anything. We just have a massive gathering on NYE and it just so happens that the food we eat ends up satisfying me more than Thanksgiving food lol

I have no fascination with alternate colored versions of things. Team caps and game consoles/controllers come instantly to mind.
