Re: Uncommon Opinions
Since this is the Uncommon Opinions thread, I'll offer one: The act of flopping doesn't bother me as much as the acting that players in all sports try to pull off when they do it.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
In my opinion, the acting is the only element of a flop... out of curiosity, where do you draw the line between flopping and acting? Because to me, when you flop, you are acting as though you have been hit hard enough to have been fouled.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Just don't do any weird, unnatural movements when you get hit or roll around like you just broken a bone.
Let's take this Bosh example:
No one does this movement if they take an elbow to the face in that motion.
Or this one:
Ginobili actually does get hit in the face, but instead of doing anything that looks like he got hit in the face he decides to flail his entire body in typical Ginobili fashion.
A lot of the times (not always) guys get fouled on 3-pointers, they get hit and they just fall to their butts. It probably wasn't enough to do that, but they also aren't out there flailing around like crazy.
If someone is going to do something stupid and they want to take advantage of it, I don't really blame them. Just don't go super overboard.
During World Cup match between Spain and Netherlands, Costa gives out a small headbutt. The guy he gave it to originally puts a hands on his face. No problem with that part honestly. But then the guy goes down to the ground and starts rolling around. That's when I'd consider someone doing too much.
All that being said, I would still prefer sports without it. Just don't really blame them if the refs aren't good enough not to call it which is the main problem.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
It's just funniest in soccer because of the whole production, it's not just the flop itself, it's the writhing on the ground for 5 minutes while everyone catches their breath, bring out the pretend stretcher, then the magic spray bottle guy cures everything... game on!Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Plenty of people go down easier than normal or draw attention to something without acting all unnatural when they get hit which is still technically a flop. Sometimes they actually are drawing attention to something that happen, but don't go overboard in acting it out.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Football is my all time favorite. Basketball is fun but there is nowhere near enough parity for me to follow. Golf is exciting, especially on the putts. Watching it witht my favorite great uncle makes it better.Comment

This isn't an opinion but I'll bet it's pretty uncommon; I've never sent a greeting card to anyone ever. Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, sympathies, graduations, etc. None.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I think "thank you" cards are stupid. Especially for a wedding or a gift or something like that. You're already thanking them when you see them at the wedding or when they hand you the gift. When they leave the wedding or wherever, you're saying "thanks again for coming and thanks again for the gift!"
How many thank you's is enough?Comment
