Re: Uncommon Opinions
Two Parter:
1) Videos/Vines/Gifs of athletes breaking various body parts doesn't make me vomit or anything like that. I'm 100% fine with it. People who go "retweet a gif of that leg break and you're unfollowed" are wayyyyy over the top. **** happens all the time, especially in sports. Get over it.
In fact, I could watch that stuff all day. That intrigues me. In a different life, I'm an athletic trainer.
2) Nothing will ever ever ever be worse than the Patrick Edwards leg break. His body kept going at full speed but the bottom half of his leg stopped dead in its tracks.
As much as I enjoy watching these, this one even makes me cringe.

I read the article. And then, yes, voluntarily clicked play on the video thinking I could handle it (I've seen video of injuries before with not-so-severe problems).
But the second his leg went, my body got all flush and I literally, no joke, started to sweat.
I get that this is an uncommon opinions thread, and understand the first part about people all "I'll unfriend you if you post such and such!"
But why all the hate? My body reacted without any pre-conceived douchy-ness from me. I literally couldn't help my physiological response! Perhaps the same thing (or worse, such as vomiting) happens to them?Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I've lost (read: deleted) friends who kept posting the Kevin Ware injury. I dont understand why random people are posting the ****. Same with people who post people(or animals) dying in tragic accidents or being killed by wild animals. Dont post gross ****.
I guess this is a gear grinder actually.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
The only thing I'm against is people posting stuff of animals getting hurt.
Other than that, post away.

Even the video that makes Watson cringe or the Kevin Ware thing really don't affect me. Plus it's all newsworthy, so that's also a factor in posting it.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
The thing thats annoying about that is that you know there are people who want to see that, and people who really dont. The people that want to see it will look it up, so why the **** would you post it so people who dont want to see it will see it? It just seems like an intentional douche move.
And not everybody knows about it. Some people like to discuss it. You can't please everybody and if you expect people to acquiesce to all your preferences, then the internet will definitely not be a great place for you most of the time. Doesn't always make them a douche.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I've always considered it a respect thing (not to mention my weak stomach, which is another reason I don't watch those kinds of videos). Having been through the pain of broken bones and torn up knees, I don't enjoy seeing others go through that in real life, and I wouldn't be okay with people getting enjoyment/fascination out of my injury.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I never get why people think that everything they don't like other people doing, even if it's pretty harmless, makes them an *******.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
A lot of us find the stuff interesting. I personally have no problem with it, though I understand a lot of people can't handle much like this. Then again, I'm the guy who said I like to stare at the needle when I get my blood drawn.

Btw I dont just mean these sports injuries. There are worse way worse videos people post on timelines that have no business being there. You cant blame "interest" with those douchbags.Last edited by kingkilla56; 08-02-2014, 11:26 PM.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
"Hey did you guys hear about that injury where the guys bone popped out of his leg?" Or "Oh man has anyone else seen that messed up video where that girl beat her dog for no reason?" It serves the same purpose of informing those who are interested in that sort of thing without subjecting those who hate that sort of thing to it. If its not intentional then its sad that they don't have an ounce of courtesy.Comment
