 Re: Uncommon Opinions

Neil Patrick Harris and Jimmy Fallon are not funny. Fallon had a few moments on SNL years ago, but he's a giggling pile of awfulness on The Tonight Show.. and NPH is a pile of awfulness in general.

I just do not understand what other people find entertaining about those two.

You're the wrong gender. Women are the only ones who think those two hilarious. How I Met Your Mother is like the ultimate sitcom for women. If you've ever had the misfortune of watching an ep of that in a room full of women, you know the pain. I've been there.Comment

 Re: Uncommon Opinions

I think the way you presented it was the issue. To me, you brushed aside everyone else that is affected by the things you say interest you, in favor of your own fascination. You mention that you're interested as long as you're not directly involved... well there's always someone else directly involved, and you completely dismiss how these events affect those.I'm sorry I did not choose my words in a way that would have made more sense. I re-read my post, and now it just sounds stupid. That's not at all in the way I intended it. My only point was that we are drawn to things that occur out of our normal, daily lives, even if they're bad, and we can't explain why. I was merely trying to make sense of it, and I don't think that I can. I just know that life would be more boring if we didn't think anything could possibly happen.

And I think people are too focused on things that involve death. That was just one example. Deflated footballs was another. Bruce Jenner is something else. There are many, anywhere and everywhere. My past post included. I wouldn't have made it if I thought I would be rioted against (though I did expect it to be uncommon). I hope you truly didn't lose all respect for me. That would mean a great deal to me if that's true.

It's a very self-indulgent, first-person viewpoint that shows a complete lack of empathy for those that directly experience any kind and degree of tragedy.

Perhaps you should've solely spoken about trivial things like deflated footballs, academic scandals, and the such, rather than school/theater shooting and mass murders.Comment

 Re: Uncommon Opinions

Thanks. I really found what line I crossed in my mind, not just on this board. Looking back at it, I was really talking about other recent things that had occurred that weren't exactly tragic. The point about me "not being involved" was simply because I wouldn't have to be watching TV or hearing others talk about it for me to make myself more aware of it or hear the speculation, not so much the fact that my life is worse because of it.I think the way you presented it was the issue. I'm going to stick my head in the sand for a while and think about how insane I sounded in my post. I think most here who really know me know that my mind isn't messed up, or any more selfish than anybody else's. People on here also know how I felt about 9/11 who have seen any posts on here. I'm not so much referring to the catastrophes at all, but rather the notion that literally anything can happen on any day leaves the anticipation of waking up the next day for me to draw intrigue to is what my post content was regarding.Last edited by Blzer; 09-20-2015, 08:42 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post.

I didn't take your post the wrong way though. I knew what you meant.Comment
