Kanye doesn't need to be an elite lyricist with his production skills the way they are. Plenty of skilled rappers will never make it simply because they aren't working with decent producers. And at least he's better on the mic than P Diddy, lol.

I recall a song produced by Kanye featuring Talib Kweli and Pharaoh Monch called " Guerrilla Monsoon " from earlier in his career and I really liked the track. I never said Kanye was terrible, but the more commercialized his music gets, the worse the quality becomes in my honest opinion. Anyone can agree to disagree, im just stating what I believe

I enjoy listening to some hard rock and metal, although most of what I listen to from that genre is Rage against the Machine

He did say an uncommon opinion that Kanye's music has gotten worse because his second to last album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is said to be one of the best albums of all time by a lot of music critics music magazines, and a lot of other artists

Music critics get paid to say that i believe. How common is it to see an underground album get that much recognition/critically acclaimed to the point of being called " one of the best of all time " ? Hell the majority of these " critics " probably never even listened to some classics like the GZA's album " liquid swords ", " illmatic " by Nas, or even " return of the boom bap " by KRS one. Any album put out by groups such as Dilated Peoples or the Wu-Tang Clan or even The Roots could be 100 times better than anything Kanye puts out but because of Kanye's popularity, he will always be considered better by some people, rather than based on his talent. Blzer brought up something similar to what I mentioned a couple of pages back.

Eh in a rap song i think " real eyes see real lies " sounds better, but you gotta pay homage to Tupac in some way, hell even in a bathroom stall haha

I'm not a big Kayne fan. However, a couple of years ago we were hanging out in a karaoke bar while on a cruise and the German kid got up and sang Heartless to the American girl he had just met on the cruise. It was one of the greatest things that I had seen/heard.... and for that I will forever be grateful.

I accept rap as music and can appreciate talent....I'm just a middle class white guy who'll never relate to "life on the street" and all the other thug life type things that a majority of it talks about....along with the racial struggles (that I can agree exist)...I just don't relate to it, so it doesn't grab me.

Yeah, but if all the rhymes are about shooting people, selling drugs, or something like that then why listen for me? I know that's not all rap, I just acknowledge that I'm not the target audience.
