Yeah, but if all the rhymes are about shooting people, selling drugs, or something like that then why listen for me? I know that's not all rap, I just acknowledge that I'm not the target audience.

The thing is that is what sells in today's society. That's why 95% of mainstream radio rap is about crime/drugs/sex/cars. People are willing to buy it and they enjoy listening to it. Back in the 80s, although i wasn't born yet, I still know that rap was used as a tool to get a message across while at the same time rhyming over a dope beat and just having fun with it. Back in the golden age of rap there were plenty of rappers like that. Now that exists pretty much exclusively in the underground plain and simple.

Dilated peoples, buckshot, mr. Lif, Gift of gab, brother ali, atmosphere, chali 2na, Akil, Del the funky homosapien, MC Supernatural, hell even immortal technique ( you love him or you hate him ) are just a few of the many good underground rappers/ groups out there who rap with a clear message but at the same time rap over dope beats. Of course you will never hear them on the radio, but that doesn't mean it isnt something worth listening to. Hell one of the greatest freestylers of all time MC Supernatural gets close to no recognition at all

Haha it doesn't have to rhyme every single line. Putting words together and making them sound coherent is part of the challenge. A solid flow really goes hand-in-hand with that

I never said Kanye in particular. Macklemore, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem are 3 others I can name that don't exclusively rap apout that stuff, but I don't listen to radio rap very often, so I couldnt tell you that much. I said the majority of the radio rap that sells has to do with cars/sex/money/drugs. All i said about Kanye is i don't like the guy much as a rapper

This is a much better way of wording it than saying "I'm a better lyricist than Kanye" because, well, you're not.

And don't take offense to that. It's just a fact. Kanye (especially Graduation/College Dropout Kanye) would laugh at your - and mine, and probably everyone else on this site's - lyrics.

I like all different kids of rap music. There's a lot of different types of artists who rap about more than "killing, money, women." That stuff is so old school lmao.

Not to get off topic, just wanted to share my .02

One unpopular opinion I have is that I also enjoy Shaen Mendes' music. Who is Shawn Mendes, you ask? He's this dude (around the same age as me) who got famous, and I mean FAMOUS on Vine, by making cover videos and one thing led to another and he was touring with guys like Nash Grier and all of those other preppy douchebags. This kid broke off though, and started making music on his own, doing his own thing. If some of you know of him, maybe you'll agree with me. Who knows, just wanted to contribute :P

I remember a post on here a while back linking O.J Simpson's murder case to the Kardashians' relevance. It was a long story but we could kinda thank OJ for the whole Kardashian mess.

It may be an uncommon opinion, but I don't really mind the Kardashians at all. I don't even completely blame the Kardashians for all the fame and money they get. I feel like they are largely a product of sensationalized media, meaning the people who watch Keeping up with the Kardashians are part of the problem leading to them making all the money they make from the show. Now there is the new Caitlyn Jenner show to generate even more cash for the family smh. I just don't care enough about them to have a real opinion of them to be honest

Whoever wrote that post I can somewhat agree with. That was the only reason they were popular until Kim and Ray J did their th. Evering since then it's been because of that they are popular, IMO.
