I went to a college prep high school myself but my youngest will be in the same charter school as the oldest when she's old enough, its just right now she cant which is where im seeing a breakdown in the way things are done.
You sure do have quite the ax to grind against all public school teachers.

This is a conversation that my fiance (wife in two weeks) and I have all the time. I went to both before finishing up grades 6-12 in public. She went to private all her life. In this area the difference is negligible but there are some very good private schools in the area (DeMatha, Good Council for example). My problem comes from the people that I know that went to the above mentioned schools in the years after school. They are for lack of a better term *** holes. That said, there are a lot of kids I see that go to the public schools that are just troublesome doing extremely dumb things. I know kids experiment with marijuana and what not, but I see kids using cocaine around here.

I want public she is leaning private. We have a while before we need to decide, but in this area you can't go wrong either way.

Re: Public School Vs. Private School

This private Christian University I'm going to in Nebraska has been an absolutely horrid experience so far. Might be because I'm a spring transfer and just being completely different from everyone else as far as ethnically, culturally, etc. However, I can say I did learn a lot going to a private christian high school my last two years. Everyone says they were much more prepared for math due to our teacher being very rigorous and demanding. I definitely learned a lot rhetorically in my composition class but I thought the regular English courses were really just not challenging or helpful at all. I think in the end it really comes down to the teacher and not the school itself. Private elementary through high school has some advantages with class sizes and you could argue about the whole issue where in public school a lot of the teachers are essentially just babysitting and not teaching. However, I saw the pros and cons of both. I had great teachers who truly cared and taught well at both public and private schools and I had my teachers who just didn't care at both schools as well.

I'm from Nebraska. Just curious which university you're at if you don't mind sharing.
