I joined back in 2005. MVP Baseball 2005! lol. I was on fanfaregames(I'm sure there's a few ppl who remember that) and actually helped make a few CAPs back then. Then the site shut down, so I had to find a new site, and this is the one I ended up joining. I used this site mostly for CAPs and stuff(since this was days before the online roster vaults/updates and stuff)

Why did you join?
Why did people join this site? Was it for a certain game, cause someone told you to, or a diff reason?

Re: Why did you join?
I joined for the Dynasty HQ in June 2007. I was looking at some CH 2K7 legacies on the 2K boards (lurked there) and saw Don Coryell's legacy, which was linked back to here. I lurked here for awhile, then eventually started posting in Dynasty HQ. I eventually made my way into the rest of the forums. -

Re: Why did you join?
In 2002 I had a massive "rage quit" early in what has become a decade of rage quits, courtesy Madden...
I somehow deleted EVERYTHING including my default roster...
I humbly called EA tech support and the kid tipped me to MM...
There, I found EVEN better rosters and was introduced to the "curse" of sliders and workarounds, which I've been pretty obsessed with since...
The "Great Migration" that took place around that time had many of us from that site end up over here, for what has been a (somewhat) long, (sometimes) strange and (ultimately) rewarding trip, indeed!
Lastly:
I think there's been a couple / few threads similar...though I have NO IDEA what they were called or how to find them...always a quality topic, regardless...

Re: Why did you join?
Backstory and history in spoilers.
SpoilerIn 2008 I was helping to run a Sports League website/forum and it was fairly successful. We had two Madden leagues, four NCAA leagues, two NBA 2k leagues, an NHL EASHL team and league, and a Socom: Confrontation Clan.
A guy handling the hosting of the site had a mental breakdown and removed all four or five of the admins we had. We had something really good going too and I feel like the site would have blown up eventually. Anyways, I come home to an e-mail from a friend and check in and he was indeed correct. We had all been removed and he gave sole ownership and adminstrator duties to this other cat that didn't have a clue what he was doing.
The site went from a democracy to a straight up dictatorship and he wanted to be in control of everything. I opposed the change and would have been open to adding this guy as a website admin, but this was an example of what happens when you let e-nerds get some sort of "power" over other people.
Anyways, long story short I refused to continue hosting any of the dynasties or playing in any league I was in and I moved on from the site, along with some other guys and we decided to create our own website and host it ourselves. It was decently successful, but it didn't have the steam the other site had gained with our help as admins and we never could recreate what we had done with the first site. It eventually fell apart. I put a lot of time and effort into it too. I desiged the entire website in photshop and cut/sliced it and took care of all of the hosting.
Back then I was more fluent in a lot of this than I am now. I was self taught in everything and always had a fascination with it. I'm not sure what happened to that as I got older. I guess High School, girls, etc. got in the way.
I found OS searching for rosters and sliders for one of our leagues. Several of us joined the site, but I'm the only one who eventually became active on the forum.
I've had sort of a weird stay here so far. When I first joined some of my posts are beyond absurd and I received an infraction for calling someone an idiot and then another for using images in my signature, and then a third for using a select word/phrase in an NBA discussion in 2009..
In today's OS, I would have probably been banned.
I've matured a lot since then and while I post some really crazy stuff sometimes, It's rarely disrespectful and in good taste.
I really like this site a lot and I spend most of my time in Non Sports Gaming, E&T, and The Neighborhood. I browse sports forums, but rarely get into the sports gaming forums.Last edited by AUChase; 03-02-2013, 03:06 PM.Comment

I was a sports video game forum junkie back in the day. Sega Sports forums, Thunderpuck forums, 2khockey.net, Dynasty Manager, Dynasty Central. That's really what it was, I was in to writing about my franchises, though I never started one on here.
I know I joined in 2004, but I don't think I really started posting for a good couple of years after. The other forums weren't active enough, OS had game developers making appearances, and there was always new posts. Now it's pretty much the only forum I visit (still check in on an off shoot from Dynasty Manager created by a former member, which is in my signature).
It's an awesome community, especially here in the neighborhood where we can talk about whatever instead of limiting people to just sports or video game talk. Posters have personalities here instead of just being a random Cubs, Yankees, etc fan.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Why did you join?
Wanted to find some MLB 08 (or 09) info early since I never hear about the game until March so I went online and searched for it and I ended up here... with other people that love The Show because I never met anyone in real life but a friend or two that enjoy talking about it.Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Re: Why did you join?
I joined after Gamespot bought out GameFaqs and GameFaqs turned to pure crap. The first forum I went to was NBA 2K forum back when NBA 2K9 came out and that is when I finally realized the 360 version of that game had way more sliders and ratings then the PS2 version. So essentially NBA 2K9 is what made me jump to Xbox 360 and leave the PS2 alone.Comment

Re: Why did you join?
Googled MLB 08 The Show sliders. Stumbled onto it buried somewhere in the results. Now OS is the first link that comes up. Haha.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
