Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon

At this point I have to wonder if the suspect is still in the perimeter they established last night. Seems like they would have found him by now if he was still there.

I think they're holding back on going full-on into the perimeter because of the potential for a trap/explosion. Going with the tactical, safe, approach for now if they believe they have it all locked down so he can't get out.

I would venture to guess they just decided to do this on their own...especially if they have been here since 2002-ish.
I think that's the part that's going to be shocking for me. They been hear for that long. My god that is the craziest thing.

You may be right. Going slower would also give them a chance to evacuate as many people as possible as they clear the houses. Is the scanner working for anyone still or did they shut it down?

              Why is that shocking?

Uncle of suspects say they have been in country since 2000/2001

The uncle of the two men suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings says they had lived together in Cambridge for about a decade.

Would anybody be against just killing this guy on sight? You could articulate that you felt there was an imminent threat of serious bodily injury if you come within about 100 feet of him.

No way I want to get near this guy based on his recent track record. Unfortunately I see on big bang left and he's dead.

They want him alive for the intel.

I didn't hear anything about this, but does this younger brother who is trapped know that his brother is dead?

                      That's a great point.

What's to say that he doesn't comply with a strip search (from a distance) to show that he does not have any explosives on him?

In an ideal world, he would be taken alive... I think it might be beneficial to get some answers, but then again, it may not be. Maybe his brother and him did act alone and it's not part of a more sinister and comprehensive plan of further destruction - but damn, if it is, it would be great to have that information.

My heart goes out to the people in the Boston area and all who have been affected by these monsters.

Possibly, but it's not safe to put yourself in a mindset of safely taking him into custody.

If I was a cop, and the order was shoot to kill on sight, I'm not arguing.

You could probably get a lot of the info you need off of their computers and such. Can't say I would take the chance of getting too close to him.

Highly doubtful, unless he complied with a strip search showing that he didn't have explosives on him. Hell, even then, I wouldn't trust him... Working in a prison myself, I don't have to use much of my imagination to know what human beings can shove up their ***.

Can they tranquilize him somehow? Are there those kinds of means? I don't mean with gas, where he'd have time to off himself, but some type of dart gun if they could get a fix on him?
