Honestly, I didn't think they were gonna get this guy so quick. I thought eventually, weeks, months, maybe years. But what, 3-4 days? Out of a city of people? I find that impressive. This isn't a movie, this was real life. The police/FBI and everyone else involved did not sleep until this bastard was hauled in. Hats off. I still can't wrap my head around it. We caught a terrorist -- ALIVE. This is big. And for some solace, one of them got the biggest consequence of death. But this one will have to go the hard way.

Catching him alive could be invaluable. He's gonna break if he has any information.

Same as before, serious condition, with a couple holes in him.

I can't imagine how difficult the hunt would have been if the brothers had an exit strategy. It seems like they didn't think they were going to get caught so they just went back about their normal life and didn't think of one. Either that or they just didn't care.

You are misunderstanding this quote. This is NOT meant in a positive way. Do you even know who George Orwell was, and what he wrote about?

12 is a pretty smart dude. He probably knows who Orwell was and what he represented and wrote about. The quote can be interpreted in many different ways, and that's probably how it was meant to be.

I was not insulting his intelligence. Yes, quotes can be interpreted in different ways, but that doesn't mean they are correct. If you had read 1984, you would understand the irony. I was just pointing it out, being a huge Orwell fan.

Anyways, I'm not getting into it. Sorry for the off topic post.

I read the book a few years ago and it's one of the better ones I've ever read. Knowing Orwell's history, it's easy to draw the conclusion of what he means (ignorance is bliss). But it can definitely be applied here in a way that the police did the dirty work to make sure we're safe, too. Isn't that what doublethink is all about? 12 can pin up that quote and if we dig into it, it means something opposite of what it looks on the surface. But can't we just take it for face value here in the direct aftermath of a domestic terrorist caught?

I'm sure this story is deep and many movies and books will be written about it. For now, a lot of people are safer then they were. I'm not one to blindly trust or follow something or someone, but right now is for saying thanks to the forces that were able to catch this guy. We can all save the in-depth discussion of what may or may not have gone on behind the scenes for another time.

Very well said. I couldn't agree more. I meant nothing more than to shed some light on the quote, I hope it wasn't taken as patronization.

Could you imagine, the older brother was probably set to kill himself as well as his younger brother with that bomb vest but somehow the younger one was taken alive. This dumb kid was just doing anything his big brother told him to do. He was obviously not ready to die.
