It's supposed to make things easier because the amount of applicants at some places, but I view it differently. A lot of companies are only allowed to hire people that have been pre screened by their corporate office.

I got lucky with my current job, but it's really not satisfying at all. I feel like I'm ripping people off by selling them a car for 20k+ after financing that our company invested 7.5k into. We're supposed to sell a 5 year, 50,000 mile warranty and no credit checks, but It's still tough for me to sell something I don't believe in. That's why I want out.

I don't know whether I'll make the military a career or not, but for right now I want to do something more important that actually helps people.

Our customers get excited about getting a car when everyone turns them down for their credit and they don't pay attention to the 24% interest and the terrible sale price. Then a few months later they get to thinkin', "Man, I'm going to be paying 20,000+ for a car I could get for 7,000 just because I wanted to get it financed. In turn, they let the car get reposessed and jack their credit up even further and will likely file for bankrupcy.

Again, it's hard for me to sale and work for something I don't believe in and I think is a lie. Yeah we're upfront with people about the process and they don't have to sign their name to anything, but it doesn't make it any easier for me.

It's not about the money for me right now.
    Hint...

The job I quit was a car sales job.

I could go on all day about the moral repulsiveness in that industry and the parroted justifications I hear the other salesman make to themselves when they bury 80 year olds in $60,000 worth of debt on vehicles they do not need (Holy run-on sentence, Heroes!).

Let's put it this way: I'll never buy a car the same way again.

Job hunting sucks. I spent all summer doing it and only had 1 interview. Luckily I got the job I have now during that interview.

But there were so many jobs I was over qualified for that I never heard one word from. Courier services never contacted me about my inquiries. How the hell is a college graduate not qualified to drive a small vehicle?

got really lucky with new job. Company started a little over a year ago. I joined up about a month before we actually started. Full time, great benefits. 20 vacation days a year. 9-5, Sundays and Mondays off. They hire new people all the time but it is all part time/seasonal work. I was looking for a job for about 6 months before I found this. Most people that started with me knew somebody, I didn't know anyone. Just had a good interview, so I consider myself very lucky.

You know what I dread, leaving here after 8 hours then going home and study for 4 to 5 more hours!

Gonna be vague to avoid TOS stuff... but I totally feel you. I have 2 masters degrees couldn't get a single worthwhile interview because of my lack of relevant work experience.

Ended up taking one of my student loan checks and financing my poker career....took money out of my poker bankroll about 15k and started a per head sports book.

Took my profits from that got an apartment and started hosting poker games to cover basic rental costs.

The end game of all this is would be to get involved in restate or open some other type automated cash flow business like a gym or currency exchange.

I guess what I am getting at is don't stress things you cant control with this economy.

There are creative ways to get a work/life/time balance and create meaningful new relationships with people.

Think outside the box and the answers will come.

I've been thinking about going back to school to become a teacher. Figured I'd delve into that deeper once my next move was finalized and I could look at the local universities.

A small dream of mine is to teach at the 9th/10th grade level and be an assistant baseball coach for a small high school.

If I could finish college now I would, I have about 2 years worth of credits but the cirriculum changed every year so im not even sure they still have that major, and on top of that, I would change it anyway, but am still paying a small amount each month on small loans... I can't remember the balance but its just a few grand 3 or 4..something like that.

I would ask as many opinions possible by the teachers themselves. My girlfriend is a teacher for about 40 more days. She was getting paid $29k/year and put in way over 40 hrs/week. She also teaches the exceptional children who have behavioral problems and lag behind their grade level. MAN it sounds like the worst damn job on the planet. Every single day is terrible.

To brag about her for a minute: she got accepted into the Occupational Therapy Masters Program at a school which has reasonable tuition. She is going to make at least 2x her salary when all said and done and she is so amazing in her field the sky is the limit for her future.

She busted her rear so hard to get a 4.0 GPA while she was teaching. She literally was a full-time student & teacher at the same time.

I feel like finding a job is impossible. The days of hand written applications are dead, so the whole handing in your application, and talking to the manager, and getting your foot in the door can't be done anymore. Thanks to the stupid online application approach now.

This is how it goes.. Hi, are ya'll hiring? Yes we are. I'm thinking hell yea. Then they burst my bubble, just go to this website, and fill out the information.

Oh, so you want me to go online, and fill out an application, that will never get looked at, or will be briefly scanned, along with a trillion other names. And wait for a reply that will never come, should have just told me to leave.

Wow that is low pay for a teach for around here. I have 3 close friends who are teachers in the public school system. One is 8th grade English, one is Special needs, one is guidance console. Every single one of them make over 40k a year, plus some like the English teacher go and work during summer school and make another couple thousand.

I know I contemplated going back for teaching since the pay is so good here, plus you only work half the year for that money.

There is other options. Use LinkedIn to network with people in hiring roles of the field you intend to pursue. Walk in as many places as possible, screw the online environment, at some point a manager will say come on back and lets talk. Another thing I was doing for a while that help me network, I would call up a business I was interested and ask to speak with the hiring manager for the role I was in search of. When he would get on the line I would be honest with him. "I'm so and so, I'm looking to network and get my foot in the door to further my CAREER with a company such as yours. I'm just not to comfortable with my chances using such a impersonal route like the online application process and I wanted to call you myself."

I have received 3 interviews from this route AND two of the ones that were not hiring the guy gave me the numbers of friends of his in similar positions for me to call and told me he would give them heads up of me calling.

I'll be honest, I have been in outside sales and such for a long time now. My social skills have always been pretty solid so I am really comfortable calling someone up and just shooting them straight with what I'm after. It might not be as easy for everyone, but I'll be honest you will be surprise how many are "impressed" by your take charge attitude with this manner.

It shouldnt even be that hard though man. This country has gone to straight poop.

I promise this is the kind of thing that is put out there, but the corporations want to throw out buzzwords like "family" and "team", yet don't have policies that follow along with that.

That stuff is just so fake, and me personally its hard for me to follow along with the phony stuff and I think its one reason I can't stand this place now. Now I have to all of a sudden cc everybody on everything I do (which I still dont), then in meetings people give the fake laugh at lame jokes.

People just want to make a living but now they have to jump through rings of fire like trained circus animals for an interview? man
