Lost my job today

Hey guys. I lost my job today. I'll admit, I really didn't like the job at all, but my family still has to eat. Just wanted to ask you guys to keep us on your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully I can find something fast. I have a degree in graphic design, but currently that's not the easiest thing to get a job in.

Try not to be too down. If you hated the job it could be a blessing in disguise.

My wife losing her job 3 years ago was the best thing that ever happened to us. She went back to school and now makes 3X what she made at the job she lost.

Use this time to find something you truly love. I'm assuming you will get unemployment for a while, that should buy you enough time to look for something better. And to spend more time with your family!

I've been looking for graphic design for years and just can't find any. That's what Id love, but there's gotta be something out there for me. For the longest time I've felt as if I needed to work on my own. Some kind of business. I don't have a whole lot of spare time, but can try to brain storm a little.

I lost my job of ten years six months ago myself. I'm sure glad I saved, so...

Yeah, you're way far away so I can't help you out. If you lived up here finding a job in your field actually isn't too difficult. Mine, however, forget about it!

Very odd week. My wife was let go yesterday, my boss' wife was let go on Monday, and now you today. All 3 hated their jobs.

Keep your head up bro. When a door closes, another one, sometimes a much better one, opens up.

Sorry to hear this Matt but keep your head up. You are right up the rd from me, I'm in West Chester. Suprised you haven't found work in your field in the Cincy area?

If you had the resources to start your own business that would be awesome. That was my ambition when I was in highschool. I took two years of technical school classes for graphic arts and really enjoyed it.

I stayed at the top of the class, because I all ready had experience with photoshop and some other design programs. Loved creating web templates and cutting/slicing them. If I had the free time, I would still do it.

I'm sure you will bounce back soon. Depending on what you specialize in, starting a small business at home over the internet or even if you had the funding for a small store would be awesome.

I know some people who made bank just by designing and cutting vinyl designs for vehicles.

Very sorry to hear this but as many have said keep your head up. I have a graphic design degree as well and never could find a job in that field. It's been about 10 years now so I'm far removed from gd. I'm thinking like 12 and auchase, you might want to look into starting your own business. Get your name and work out there for companies/businesses to see and see where it goes. In the meantime my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear that but like others said, keep your head up. I was laid off from a job a little over 3 years ago. It sucked because I really liked the field I was in, but, after not finding work for 6 months I went back to school and now have a better job.

Draw unemployment, take some time to figure out what you want to do and treat looking for a job as your actual job. It's easy to fall into a trap of playing video games or watching TV all day when you don't have an office to go to, so try and apply/look for jobs first thing each day and then do what you want with the rest of your day.
