I have to admit, this is one of the most peculiar threads I've seen here, and I've seen quite a few. Congrats Amigo.

Why do you need other people to answer these questions for you? Buck up, take whatever heat you get from those who know you, and move on. If you want to root for Michigan, that's cool.

I want your opinion, and I'm trying to prepare for the ragging I'll get back home. On Facebook, 2 friends ragged me already.

              Let's make this clear.

              1) I want your opinions first and I will go to my friends second on this, which means you guys are the guinea pigs.
              2) this thread was meant to ask Michigan fans for advice on how to be a Michigan fan because I know nothing about being a Michigan fan
              3) I like both Clemson and Michigan

Re: Newbie Michigan fan; advice needed

I give it a season before you stop being a Michigan "fan"

I usually don't have a problem with who people cheer for, but if you're not proud enough to say how you became a fan then 1) how much of a fan are you in the first place and 2) Why would I invest my time in trying to help someone become invested in the school I love as much as my own if I don't even feel he would stick it out.

And trust me #2 has happened on OS.

ummm I thought being a fan of a team just meant wearing team colors and watching the games every week. Unless Michigan has a different set of rules for fans to follow.

                      1) Is it hard being a Michigan fan in the deep south?
                      2) Are personal circumstances a good reason to become a Michigan fan?
                      3) Do other Michigan fans welcome fans with no affiliation with the school or state into the fanbase?
                      4) Based on my circumstances, would I be called a bandwagoner?
                      5) Do you have any other tips/advice for me as a newbie Michigan fan?
                      6) How do I educate myself about Michigan football?
                      7) What websites are good to educate myself on Michigan Wolverines football?
1.You will likely get a good amount of hate for it. In your case, probably well deserved hate.

2.Possibly, but you will not share these "personal circumstances" so, therefor, they probably are not a good reason for you to jump teams.

3.I am not a Michigan fan, but I would assume they accept most fans. However you are likely one of the exceptions that they will not accept.

                      4.Yes, most definitely

5.Actually commit to the team, follow them, and learn about them. And do not jump to another team in a year or two just for the heck of it.

                      6.Books, internet.

                      7.Google search it

Here's my advice: Root for a different school. Seriously, any other FBS school. Pick a name out of a hat. ****ing ring toss for all I care. Just don't root for Michigan.

                          You're welcome.

Just stick with Clemson and call it a day.

The Ohio State fan's advice was pretty funny though.

And the truth comes out. Not a completely terrible reason for picking a school. I've heard worse.
