I would be embarressed to have this guy be a fan of my team. Glad he chose Michigan I guess.

        Guru,

Just follow the team along with Clemson. If people ask, just say you have a friend who got you turned onto the team, and you enjoy watching them play.

Don't turn into a total douche about Michigan, just root for them and over time you'll be a bigger fan.

I agree, it's a good thing Alabama doesn't have bandwagon fans.

The fans they do have are obnoxious enough.

Cool. Maybe you can help them find that lost helmet.

Now was that so hard? lol

Just an FYI, had you shared this at the beginning and not been so weird about your reasons for choosing a new team, people probably would have been more likely to give you a little advice and not have been so hard on you. Since in all seriousness that isn't too bad of a reason to jump teams, I've heard worse reasons before.

My roommate in college was from Minnesota so I started to pull for Minnesota teams. I wouldn't call myself a "fan" but I'll pull for them in sports if they are playing.

If that's a "secret" to you I have to give you props as you are likely one of the most ethical people on this planet.

Yea, I'm the same way with Mississippi State. Was never a big fan of them, and usually watched Arkansas with my parents, but since my best friend and a few of my other friends from high school went there, I started following them. Do I identify as a hardcore fan? Nah, but I pull for them, especially when they demolished Michigan in the Gator Bowl a couple years ago.

OP, you made this a lot worse than it had to be. Logical reason and nothing to be ashamed of.

lol the big secret was that OP has a friend in Michigan?

I was expecting something more like: "I killed a guy in Michigan so I want to make it up to the state by supporting the local squad"
