To clarify: I remember it happening, and I remember being sad... but I was a kid and had my own games, friends and everything else to distract me from there being no baseball so it wasn't really a big deal to me back then compared to what it would have been if I were older/if one happened to us in these days.

Re: If you could grow up..
I was born in 1991, loved being a 90's kid!
Like someone else said earlier in the thread, I wouldn't make a conscious decision to re-do my life and grown up in another decade, because that would mean giving up the toys (phones, video games, computers, etc.) that I love.
That being said, it would have been cool to be born in the early '60s and be a teenager in the '70s. Both my parents were born in '60.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: If you could grow up..
I think a lot of my wish to experience a different decade stems from my love of music.
I sit around sometimes just jammin' to bands like The Who or Zeppelin. I love my music from the past two decades, but sometimes my mind just craves the flow of music from the 70s and 80s and even the 60s.
I would just love to be a part of that transformation and new wave of rock music coming through, then.
The thought of parents these days not wanting their kids to listen to The Who because of how vulgar they thought it is, really cracks me up.Comment

So, I'd read and build model kits to stuff like ELO, Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, KC and the Sunshine Band, Eagles, ABBA, Steve Miller Band, The Moody Blues, Manfred Mann, etc.
Downside was the 70's pop-dreck, like Captain and Tenille, Sylvers, disco stuff..ugh.
It wasn't until I was in 8th grade that I FINALLY started to hear stuff like Zepp, The Who, The Beatles, Van Halen, Hendrix...even Boston, Sabbath, stuff like that. And then in high school, Rush and progressive rock finally came along for me, even some fusion music like Allan Holdsworth and lots of other stuff.
So when I was in high school and college in the 80's I had the immense joy of discovering SO much great music from the past while enjoying the best of the 80's as well.
I even got into some speed metal for a while, LOL. Znowhite, Yngwie Malmsteen, Metallica's early stuff...even a bit of Slayer. That was a phase though; Judas Priest was my favorite metal music of the 80's and I still love those guys. "Defenders of the Faith" is amazing, and the tune 'The Sentinel' is a masterpiece.
Anyway, yeah, Chase.....man. Your post got me thinking and really took me down a nice memory track with all that music. Thanks brotha
Best thing about those years (and the 90's to a good extent) is you could identify who was on the radio in a split second because most artists sounded unique. It's like the music biz ran out of originality in the 2000s.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: If you could grow up..
I was thinking about that the other day.
I typically listen through my phone and auxillary cable, but I flipped to the tuner and froze on a pop station and I thought to myself, "This sounds just like every other song on this radio station that I've heard".
I tend to be a critical thinking person. Sometimes it gets me because I worry and stress myself out about things I can't control. I think that's how I started this thread. I just got to thinking about how much different life would have been growing up in a differen generation.
Then again, I've experienced the 90s, 00s, etc so if I was just plugged in back in time I would be looking at it completely different than everyone else around me who didn't know any better.

Re: If you could grow up..
I knew in the mid-80's we could all die in an instant if the Russians or us push the button. But I was more interested in seeing 'Purple Rain' or 'The Breakfast Club'. LOL Angst and morose attitudes weren't prevalent back then. They EXISTED in all the ages going back, but just weren't prevalent.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: If you could grow up..
LOL, GMSS made my head explode. I loved all those tracks.
Funny thing is I was a DJ for hire in the 80's (dances and events). I was also the DJ for a breakdance crew and had the honor to DJ two fair's breakdance competitions back in 1985. Fun stuff.
GMSS...remember "Radioactive", "Scorpio", "Renegades of Funk", "Egyptian Lover", etc?
I loved mixing during shows. Too bad I never had a fan as big as this though

I remember Egyptian Lover and Puerto Rican Lover quite well. I use to break dance a lot during the 1980s.

Born in the mid 60's....so I was a 70's kid really.
Crappy time for N.Y.C.....but I had no idea ....having too much fun!(ah...ignorance is really bliss)
Older teenager in the early 80's.
Perfect times for me...so the era I did grow up in was great!
Posted this in the listening to thread...but here are another few 80's classics(club songs....I loved Zep and the Who but never got pigeon holed into one genre of music)...
Early...
