I ran over a car battery, quick question.

So I borrowed a friends huge battery that I've been jumping my car with lately because my battery in the car doesn't want to hold a charge over night, but it drives fine once you jump her. Just if she sits over 8 hours she won't start. So every morning I go out and get this battery out and hook up the jumper cables and start it up. Well, my wife strike'd up a conversation with me while I was putting the big car battery away (forgive me for not knowing what the battery is called, it's got a **** of power is all I know lol.) I stuck in behind the car, intending to put it in the trunk and then she got me busy talking for a few minutes. After we finished talking, I got in the car (with the battery still behind me) and started pulling out of our driveway. Well, I ran over it (not with the tire, it just went under the car). I stopped the car and pulled the battery out and it's fine, just a little ding'd up. I took it to a couple of places to check and make sure its charge is fine and it is, but that's irrelevant.

When I backed up I heard it scratching up under the car and it wasn't exactly a pleasant sound. Do you think the battery could of damaged anything under the car? I started it a couple hours later after some errands and the car kind of vibrated for a second when I turned started it, but was fine after a few seconds. I looked under the car where the battery was at, and it looked fine as far as I could tell. I don't know a lot about cars, but I didn't see anything obvious like something hanging out or leaking. Without any pictures, do you think I really need to get it checked out? I checked multiple times after I stopped at places to make sure it wasn't leaking and it wasn't. The battery was about dead center middle of the car when I stopped after I realized what I had done. The car drives normal and you don't hear or feeling anything outside of that vibration for a second or two when you start it.

My logic was that it'll be okay since I feel like that part of the car goes through a lot as far as getting hit by rocks and what not, but I could be wrong.
If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.

If anything it might have knocked a bracket loose that holds the muffler.

Is that something major that needs to be checked out ASAP or can it wait?

        Alright, I'll be "that guy."

Why haven't you just replaced the battery?

If it isn't hanging down, it can wait. But I wouldn't wait too long though. The longer it rattles, the higher risk it will damage the rest of the brackets and eventually the whole thing will come off. So just listen out for it over the days and weeks. If suddenly rattles a lot louder then normal, get it checked ASAP.

            I knew someone would ask

Money is just a little tight and I can make do with doing a quick jump in the morning and saving myself 80-100 dollars until my next paycheck.

@Gotmadskillzson, It's definitely not hanging. The muffler looks to be still on the car perfectly fine, though I could be wrong, but it's definitely not hanging. I will keep an eye out tomorrow morning and future mornings.

I know exactly what you mean, it's a pretty common theme around here.

Good thing it was run over in your driveway and not on the Arthur Berkhardt Expressway.

I mean, if money is tight as you say, I would wait and have it checked later. It doesn't sound like THAT serious of an issue, but I'd keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Although, if it were me, I'd figure out what it is asap, but that's just because I'm a car freak and am paranoid anytime I hear or see something that isn't right. lol.
