I really didn't know anything about that, except for the Chinese/Taiwan thing. Which fish do you guys suggest?

I wish I could live on Beer and Chicken Wings...
Well, Chicken Wings from Buffalo, NY anyway...
I travel a lot (and have lived in a lot of places) and the stuff that passes for wings elsewhere is pretty laughable in comparison...
Just sayin'

Am I trolling? Am I serious? Did Dennis Green and the Cardinals really "let them off the hook"? What about the children? Find out next weekComment

Re: What is your favorite food?
Anyway, for me that 20 dollar big box at Pizza Hut is all I need. Two pizzas, cheese sticks, and wings, if I'm feeling really freaky, I'll substitute Tuscani pasta for the wings.Comment

Re: What is your favorite food?
I'll chime in on this, I highly agree with this. Tilapia is a extremely dirty fish and mixed with the terrible living conditions of farm raised fish, I would guide everyone away from eating it. From cancer causing pesticides to the toxic chemicals they use to keep the fish alive in small densely packed tanks. All of it is not good for humans.
Granted I also have freezers full of fresh fish so I am a bit biased but I also know of the dangers of farm raised fish in general so take it how you want. My personal health opinion, stay away from any farm raised.
@VT, its not just Tilapia though, catfish is another huge one since so many people purchase catfish but a good 70% of those store bought fish are farm raised I would bet.
Sadly I don't each much fish at all that isn't fresh or caught by myself.YNWAComment

Re: What is your favorite food?
Grouper, Amberjack, Redsnapper are all more deep water saltwater fish where Black Drum, Redfish, and Trout are more inshore saltwater species.
This would be my guide for people who want to eat fish.
1) Wild caught Catfish - Reason I list it as #1 because it will be relative inexpensive compared to the others.
2) Wild Caught Salmon - More expensive but excellent health benefits
3) Wild Caught Black Drum - More of the inexpensive side and is 99% of the time what they serve in restaurants if they refer to a dish as "drum".
4) Wild Caught Redfish - Redfish is technically a "red drum". I find the meat slightly better than black drum and is fantastic if you get it "On the half shell".
5) Wild Caught Speckled Trout - Considered the best tasting inshore fish among almost everyone. This would be my first go to option but I believe cost and finding wild caught will be difficult.
6) Wild Caught Flounder - Another fantastic tasting fish but can be difficult to find and would be more expensive than the more common species. Plus many of these inshore fish being shipped to the internal parts of the country would result in higher costs.
Noticed the running trend is stay with fresh caught WILD fish, don't go mass produced farm raised for a number of health reasons.
This is why I would state finding wild caught catfish would be the best option for most the country, but if you live near the coast then find inshore fish or do like me and go catch your own and stock your freezer!!Last edited by Phobia; 08-06-2013, 09:06 AM.Comment

Re: What is your favorite food?
yea there is a number of trout that are freshwater, but there is also many salt water species from sand trout, white trout, to speckled trout. So yea it can go both ways but linking in redfish, blackdrum, and trout together seems logical like we talking about the salt water variety lolComment

Re: What is your favorite food?
Edit: Looked this up, good find VT. Speckled trout and white trout ARE part of the drum family. I guess being a coonass I hear trout and assumed it had to be apart of the trout family and never second guessed that because they don't resemble the drum family. Good find man!Last edited by Phobia; 08-06-2013, 12:19 PM.Comment
