No that's not what I meant. I meant what I said. It's a great opportunity for people in Duke's situation(IF he is failing in school). Not that his situation is the only situation in which people should join. Personally I think everyone should give serious thought to the military because the benefits are all there and retiring at the age of 40 is something everyone dreams of.

Duke, are you failing school? Because if your not, what your mum is doing does not make sense.Comment

Re: Welp, I'm in trouble
No, I'm not failing (other than the usual dumb stuff like not dropping a class before the cutoff. Even still I have a 2.5 average, so I'm not in a terrible position). I think it just came down to me not having a job (or looking hard enough for one), not being as responsible as I should have been, and she was tired of seeing my face around the house.
Going to google my area and see if I can find anything. I'll probably wander around the Tech campus and see if I can find any takers for the Xbox and my games.Comment

Re: Welp, I'm in trouble
Lots of interesting perspectives/thoughts in here from different people.
Hope you're taking some the advice in here though man. You're still young so you got plenty of time to get your ish together(you're in School and you seem to be doing fine in that regard so that's a start).#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Welp, I'm in trouble
Yeah I am. If everything pans out (in terms of getting the I.D and selling some of my stuff for a couple hundred) I'm hoping I can open up a checking or savings account separate from my school account. Interest, even a sliver of it, is better than nothing...
Then I'm going to see if I can write articles or short stories for a couple of websites. If there's anything I'm confident in it's my writing, but this requires further research. Should not be too difficult, but I've said that before...
Still searching and exploring options.Comment

Re: Welp, I'm in trouble
This and considering the container it's in, it's simply not feasible lugging it around. Not only would it be physically exhausting, but it would make me a target to get jacked.
In any case. Giving myself a refresher course on umm...that thing you do to watch movies that aren't out on DVD yet...Last edited by DukeC; 08-04-2013, 11:03 PM.Comment

He's just saying if you don't have a home, you won't have anywhere to plug it so why lug it around?Comment

Anyways, I hope your mother is just scaring you with the whole military thing. But you honestly do need to get your life together. You sound like a very intelligent young man with a future. Please go get a job and make the most out of what God gave you. In case your mother does kick you out while you are looking for a job, I would explore other options such as a shelter you can stay at while trying to find one. I understand that at least in my town, you cannot work at McDonalds and afford an apartment. Hopefully your area is not the same way. Maybe if you get a job your mother will change, if not the dorms are your best choice. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers.Comment
