    Re: I want to move

If you need hotel accommodations shoot me a message, I've been over all of America and have made plenty of connections/friends. As far as where to go, it's totally up to you, there's so many different lifestyles across America that are city specific, it depends on what you think you want to do.

      Appreciate the offer, man.

I think Portland will be too expensive at this point unless I find a roommate out there, which could be a possibility ill have to look into.

Consider Austin, it's a great city, lots of things to do outdoors also.

My girl and I have contemplated it, too. We were set on Arizona, Colorado, somewhere southwest-ish. Just being able to start over. Alas, it's back on the backburner... But the thought is exciting, if daunting.

For a single dude, though -- why the hell not? If your social status is shot, and the only thing here is family, go for it. Not everyone can or gets to do that.

          Best of luck!

I feel like it might get too hot there for me, ha. It's on the list though.

I'd go with Charlotte if I were you.

I live in SC, but have relatives in Charlotte so I'm up there a good bit. It's a growing city with plenty to do. I'm 90% sure I'm going to be house hunting in the Rock Hill, SC area this winter (20 minutes from Charlotte).

Ha, a townhouse in the Rock Hill, SC area just popped up on my search of places to rent in NC.

Washington has no income tax. Much better. Shop in Oregon, live in Washington, no income or sales tax! Unless you still get charged a tax for working in Portland. Not sure about the laws on that coast.

I lived in Wilmington, NC for over 5 years and loved it... For me, I liked the triangle area of NC better then Charlotte when I made road trips. I guess Charlotte was a little too "red" for me.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting "red", but if you are referring to republican, Mecklenburg has been blue in the last 3 presidential elections, but if you haven't been around in the past decade, you would have missed out on that. Since 88, the voting has steadily gone from strong republican to about even in the Clinton years and now solidly blue.
