Re: Is it Possible to lose interest in Video Games?

Gave up on this gen gaming 4 years ago and focused on just HD movies. At one point the PS3 was the best and cheapest blu ray player. After my apt. got broken into, I just decided not to replace the PS3 with the insurance money.

I may get a PS3 or 360 down the road just to play sports games.

Probably find one on the cheap after the next gen drops.

Speaking of, that's cool and all. But I don't see myself getting a PS4/etc for a while if at all. I still feel I get great use out of my PS3. I stick with my sports games for years. Budget gamer through and through.

        Definitely.

I haven't lost interest in video games, per say, but I don't play console games too much anymore. I haven't even turned on my Xbox 360 in a few weeks. Instead, I am enjoying strategy games (Hearts of Iron 3, Victoria 2, etc.) and racing sims (iRacing, Game Stock Car 2012) these days.

Re: Is it Possible to lose interest in Video Games?

I made a transition in gaming from offline to online with Teamfortress on my PC and then NFL 2K on the Dreamcast. There's a group of guys I still meet up with in the evenings that I met on the DC, playing in online leagues etc. That grew into various shooters to play. We've had some nights where we had to put down the controllers...we were laughing so hard.

But the offline experience has really dwindled for me. I try every time with various games, games I have waited in line for, and they fizzle out. They just don't pull me in. You would think with all the technology we have they would, but it is very rare now that I will play a game through.

I think right now I read more about games than I play them.

For me , it used to be the story that sucked me in...now so many games don't tell a story it's just lame.

I def lose interest in video games quicker than others.....since I only play sports games, my interest stays high for the first season then dwindles a little more as each season progresses......I guess because its rinse and repeat year-in, year-out

No, it's not possible. There's something wrong with you and I think you need to get checked out ASAP.

Seriously, though. It's happened to me before. I've gone weeks at a time not playing games because I just don't feel like it. I'll turn my system on, and turn it right back off.

I haven't played my ps3 regularly in months. I play it once in a while now. I've got a stack of games that I started but barely got into, including Uncharted 3, Amazing Spiderman, and Borderlands. Most of my PS3 time lately has been playing NHL 13 with a buddy but that's really it. I tend to go through streaks. I'll play something on PS3 and PC at the same time, then I'll only play something on one or the other, then I play nothing. I usually don't miss playing them. When I REALLY feel like playing something I will, but otherwise I don't play anything.

I've lost a ton of interest in video games over the past few years. I remember playing Madden 04/05, MVP 05, and all the NCAA games for 12+ hours straight at times. Fast forward to now...I haven't turned my PS3 on in about a month.

My interest has been dwindling and I find myself half way though wanting the story to already be over. The last game that I truly loved and didnt want to end was Red Dead Redemption but I love the genre and wish more companies would try Wild West/cowboys more often. Seems everything lately has been futuristic, post-apocalypse and/or zombies.

Re: Is it Possible to lose interest in Video Games?

Most folks do grow out of playing video games. That's normal. Maturity, responsibility and other interests take there place.

I, however, have not. But if sports games lose there edge as far as complexity/challenge and a sim like experience, Ill give it up.

Those are the only games I play now. I used to be into shooters but even, with those Ive lost interest. Shooters just aren't sim enough for me. That includes both online and offline. Though I do tend to like online when folks play within the confines of the objective, and implement some form of strategy. With that, said Battlefield is the game I occasionally revisit. especially Battlefield 1942.

ther than that its sports on most days. I game about 3-4 hours a weeks.

I'm still interested and active, but I don't play as much as I used to. I used to be able to play every night for a couple hours, but now I'm lucky if I get 4 hours on a weekend max. Just getting married, having a house, etc.

I still like gaming, just not as much a priority in my life now...

                              Good thread...

I tend to play only sports games now, specifically MLB The Show. Since I work long hours, get called out after hours and then spend my free time with family, I have little time to play. However, I think because I do have little time, I stay extremely interested in my Padres franchise and always look forward to playing my next game...

I went the opposite way. I tend to only play single player games now (Dishonored, Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, XCOM, etc). I get a game on sale and focus on that until I beat it...

I'm mostly giving up on sports games, I don't have the time necessary and I'd rather spend what little gaming time I have on something more substantial.
