Withholdings on part-time jobs can cause a problem, too, as sometimes a paycheck will not have enough income to have any withholdings. Not sure if that applies.

Being a dependent the education credits typically go to your parents as in my experience that will generate a higher refund for the family. Also not sure what low income credit there was other than EIC, but dependents can't take that.

80% sounds about right to be right around breaking even or paying in a little bit. I'm at 75% and I only got back $600.

The trick to the paycheck is to only look at your take home... Looking elsewhere will only ruin your day/week/month/year/decade/score/.... I think you know where I'm going with this.

I was working about 20 hours per week between the two jobs. Saw about 86% of what I actually made.

I was independent when I got the education & low income credits.

I've received at least 1000 ever year since I started claiming myself. I did have to pay Alabama 27 $...

I'm trying to get an exemption, now. It will be dumb to live in another country and pay taxes in Alabama.

Yeah, 80% seems astronomical to me. I think I get about 65% of mine or thereabouts. No idea how normal that is. I think I had them take out the maximum possible so there is no chance of me ever owing anything.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised by how many people owe. I'm not a Tax Expert by any means though. I get at least north of $600 every year. This year it was over $1000. Texas doesn't have state taxes so that's pretty awesome.

Just a heads up to all parents or older siblings out there. Apple is doing refunds for in-app purchases made by minors. Just got an e-mail. My little brother went crazy on my phone one day so I'm looking forward to this.

I get two notices before they put on interest. Then the big wigs call and I negotiate payments. Didn't have to pay fees or interest last time.

Well to be honest, the only reason we owe that much is because my wife and I both work at the same place and we each got a 15k bonus at the end of the year. On said bonus we went exempt on federal and only paid state tax, so we knew it was coming.
