Posted this in NFL Off Topic, but I'll post it here too.
NFL Ditches Roman Numerals for Super Bowl 50
The NFL announced on Wednesday that it will go away from Roman numerals when it comes to the 50th Super Bowl, set for February 2016.

Instead of being called Super Bowl L, with the Roman numeral L representing the number 50, the league will instead brand the game Super Bowl 50. The move breaks a tradition of using Roman numerals for the NFL's title game that dates back to Super Bowl V in 1971.
Jaime Weston, the NFL's vice president of brand and creative, told ESPN the move is only a one-year break and is being made because the "L" isn't as pleasing to the eye.

I'd actually been wondering about this for a while and I think it's a good move. "Super Bowl L" would look kind of lame and "50" stands out way better for such a milestone number.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Off Topic 2014
I could really use some help. I feel like I am on the verge of a full on breakdown. Been dealing with a customer service/money transaction nightmare all day.
It would take me awhile to type out the whole situation, so here are the basics:
I am trying to buy a new computer
I want to use Bill Me Later for the purchase
My bill me later account is not linked to my paypal account because I already had a paypal credit card on there.
I have cancelled the card but it still shows up on the account and has not been cleared yet, stopping me from ordering the PC. This part has involved multiple talks with completely inept customer service reps the last few hours, none of whom were able to help me.
The site I am ordering from has a completely non-paypal separate option for Bill Me Later, however after the transaction is approved for some reason my address is not shown as "Verified." This too, has led to multiple phone calls with more customer service reps who were unable to help me. They say everything is fine. One even transferred me to someone at Paypal, again.
Here is the real problem though.
I logged back onto the site after getting off the phone, just figuring, what the heck, lets try to order it one more time.
I went through all the steps, selected Bill Me Later as the option, and it took me to a page to login into Paypal. Didn't say anything about money or purchase, just asked for paypal login, I figured, ok, maybe this is where paypal lets me select Bill Me Later as my payment option.
Nope.
I click login and I get sent to a transaction complete page. Says funds were instantly transferred.
Problem is, is the cards/accounts I have linked to my Paypal, which I never use, DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH MONEY IN THEM. That is why I hardy use Paypal and was only trying to link Bill Me Later to get the benefit of my Paypal verified address.
So basically, about 3 grand that doesn't technically exist was just sent somewhere for a transaction I didn't mean to make.
So, I call the PC company, get a busy signal, call again, get the answering machine, I leave a message and send an email as well to both customer service and support, then I call Paypal again, this time going straight to transactions department and not account information like before. The guy tells me that since the transaction is complete, there is no way to cancel it.
I say, "How is that possible? That money doesn't exist on my end."
He says "Paypal fronts the money and then takes it from your account within 5 business days."
I then say, "Ok I see, well, so somehow a goof happened and this was charged to Paypal instead of Bill Me Later, can it just be returned or something?"
He says
"There is nothing we can do. You can call the merchant and cancel the order, in which case the funds will be refunded to your Paypal account."
I said, "Ok cool, so that means it will go straight back to you guys right? No harm no foul?"
He says
"No the money will go into your Paypal balance. You then choose what to do with it."
At that point I had to get off the phone, blood pressure was rising.
What the hell am I supposed to do?
I already told the company, in the voice mail and e-mails (I am still trying to get through to them, its busy right now everytime I call) the story and to cancel right away. Once the money comes back do I call Paypal and say "there is a bunch of money in my paypal account that isnt mine, its yours, please take it" or do I deposit the refund straight into my bank account and just let the normal paypal process happen? What if they try to charge my bank account, which doesnt have the funds to cover the purchase (how did it go through in the beginning?) before I get the refund money back?
This seems very confusing to me. Pardon the typos I am in full blown anxiety attack mode and not thinking clearly.
Someone please tell me what to do and what order to do it in... should I call my bank and explain the situation? Maybe they can block paypal?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Off Topic 2014
I have no experience dealing with what you're going through so someone with more experience please feel free to correct me, but -
The first thing I'd do is I would definitely call my bank and try to stay ahead of the situation insofar as PayPal taking funds from my checking account is concerned. You don't want to be financially inconvenienced in the short-term.
I'd reach out to PayPal as well, explain the situation, (maybe) let them know that you're going to block the withdraw of funds from your checking account, and (definitely) have them cancel/reverse the transaction on their end.
Third, I'd find a different PC company to purchase a computer from. This just strikes me as incredibly sketchy.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Were the Bengals always one of your teams?
I don't mean that in a snarky way, I'm genuinely curious about why the Bengals. They're a pretty bland franchise to me, outside of AJ Green. And maybe he's the reason, I don't know.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

lol. When I played Mario Kart, it was almost exact opposite reaction. If someone hit me,I'd give that kart a mini death stare as they pass by me after hitting me with a blue shell, green shell and some other item.Comment
