Went to my bi-annual eye appointment. Everything is tickety boo and no real changes with my eye pressure. The left is basically useless but the pressure in my right eye is holding steady.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I should also mention I'm about to board my third Canadair made plane and so far none have been made of wood and none have been piloted by Alan Thicke so all my preconceived notions have been shattered.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Off Topic 2014
Cox Cable increased everything across the board recently without so much an email or letter to let the customer know. Even worse I figured being that I'm currently locked into a bundle, I would be immune to a price increase, but of course not. Now we're looking at well over $200 per month for everything. Might be time to look to other options. Spending close to $250 for cable and internet just feels wrong.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
I'm moving into a new apartment in June that has an exclusive contract with one cable/internet company. Said cable company has an F with the Better Business Bureau and a One Star rating on Yelp after 100+ reviews.

From my experience with TV service providers is that the contract only really covers them. They can increase prices and fees without breaking the contract. So in my eyes "contracts" with them are worthless.

Re: Off Topic 2014
How long have you been on your current plan? Usually the deal they have you sign up for expires after a certain point (year or two years), and that is disclosed if you read your bill carefully. What I usually do at that point with Charter is call and threaten to cancel, then sign up for a new offer. It's a little annoying to do this once a year, but that's what it takes to keep the bill down.
The package we signed up for is a 2 year contract that went into effect 13 months ago. What I was told by customer service was that no longer protects me from price increases. If I were to cancel at any point during those two years, guess who has to pay a cancellation fee? Bull****.
I have done the threaten to cancel thing in the past. I dunno, going to wait until I can sit down to take a closer look at how much exactly everything I'm paying for currently costs. Some things may have increased more than others. Haven't had a chance to compare last month to this month yet. Regardless, Cox Cable always finds a way to make doing business with them a headache.Comment

[A]nd one poor sap's complain that his property management company forced him to take down his satellite dish. (This is outside the purview of the FCC.)Actually, Barry, it's not. The FCC is responsible for enforcing the Over-The-Air Reception Devices provisions of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which, under most circumstances, do indeed prevent your management company or landlord or whomever from forcing you to take down your dish. Those rules were put in because cable companies were going to homeowner's associations and condo associations and essentially paying them off to ban satellite dishes. And the way you get relief under it is to file a petition with the FCC challenging the policy under which you're being restricted in your use of the dish. How that got mixed up with Super Bowl complaints, though... no clue.
And to answer your next question... why yes, I DID have to fight this out with my condo association! How could you tell?

Re: Off Topic 2014
$250 for cable/Internet? I'd kill myself.
Our bill just bumped up from the promotional price we had for a year (basic cable 1-100 pretty much and Internet) at $90 and that feels high.
I really wish we could pick and choose channels. We probably only watch 10-15 channels. $5 a channel or something.
That's never gonna happen though.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
