I hit the same thing, but knowing me we both just called it my mid life crisis.

Fiddy seems like a good round number.

    Also, FIFA benders are real.

If I could only buy one video game every year, not just sports game but video game in general, it would be FIFA every year.

Question for people familiar with how credit scores work. Currently I have a decent credit score, just not a lot of credit to my name. I have one credit card that I use and payoff constantly. I was thinking about getting a Best Buy CC for the extra discounts. Would this hurt, help, or not affect my credit? Especially if I only use it every couple of months.

Sports games are really the only ones to release on a yearly basis.

CoD, but those are basically 3 separate sites at this point.

You'd take FIFA over Skyrim, BorderLands, et al if they were able to make those on a yearly basis (assuming no quality drop?)

Fair points, but I still think I'd take FIFA. As much as I love Skyline and Borderlands, and that's well documented, I feel like I'd have more fun with FIFA every year.

Of course, if you ask me in year 4 of this arrangement I might beg you for a change.

It functions the same way as a normal CC as far as I know.

The only caveat is that they do consider the items you buy "collateral" so, in the event of a Bankruptcy, the debt is secured, not unsecured. Not that this matters for his situation but still.

One thing that helps your score a lot is not using more than 25-30% of your allotted credit. I've spent the last two or so years working on getting my credit up while I'm still young, and the thing that's helped me the most is having multiple credit cards, putting everything I buy on them, then paying them off after I get the statement. I was just able to refinance my car too. So as long as you keep the amount that hits your statement fairly low, you're totally fine. I'd highly recommend an app called CreditKarma. They give you a free credit score every week but they also show you what's affecting it the most.

If you treat the new card the same way you treat your current card it will help your credit. Remember though paying off a CC does not hold the same weight that maintaining a balance does. Sounds dumb, I know. But your credit score will get higher if you hold balances with your cards.

I like to hold a balance on my one major card then I pay it off when taxes come. Usually to the coin of 8gs and then start over again. Basically holding a balance for 7-8 months then paying it off. All the while paying about 20% higher than the minimum payment per month.

This is how I do it. Others may have different ways and opinions. But this seems to work pretty well for me. Last time it was checked (when I bought my wife her truck last year) I was between 750-800.

I know I would. I sink more hours into FIFA than every other game that comes out. If I could only get one game every year it would be FIFA. The fun and replayability is not rivaled by any other sports game. So many teams to play with, players to discover, leagues to dominate, packs to open, jobs to lose, and scouting to be done.

The career mode in FIFA is not deep, I know this, but it is the most fun career mode in any sporting game I would say.

A site like CreditKarma has a credit score simulator. You just enter your info, then what you're looking to do and it will show you how it effects your credit.

I'm not sure how accurate their simulator is, but maybe it's worth a try.

That's actually what made me ask. I check it regularly and figured I should start trying to raise it. I got an 'F' for accounts, but that has a low affect according to CK.

I should start being better about that. I usually get to 80% of it then pay it all the way off.

Anyone have any idea what kind of credit limit Best Buy puts out on their cards?

If I had to choose only one game a year to play, it would be either GTA (assuming it was a yearly release) or NBA 2K. I might have said NHL had you asked me a few months ago. Not now though.

Also, just got a new HTC One M8 today after dealing with my GS3 being smashed and having a pink line of dead pixels going down the screen for the past year and a half or so. Somehow Best Buy is giving me $50 for it. I almost had to do a double take when the girl said that. Now I'm just waiting an hour to go back and pick it up when they're done transferring my data over and all that good stuff. Feels good man.

Verizon took my water damaged (ie. wouldn't take charge or turn on) for $100 towards my current phone. I guess it's money back in their pocket, but I was still shocked.

What they didn't do is activate a phone my old coworker gave me. It came up as lost/stolen (I had no idea), so they weren't allowed to. If I could somehow get it back to the original owner, I totally would. We've just been using it as the "home mobile device". So it's our Netflix/music player when we don't feel like using our actual phone or TV or computer.

I'm wondering if jailbreaking it will allow it to be activated on one of those 3rd party carrier (MetroPCS). When we got my wife's phone, the guy said only jailbroken iPhones could work on their network, as I was thinking about switching from Verizon at the time. Will doing so allow MetroPCS to activate it and kind of bypass/ignore the lost/stolen designation? Otherwise, it's useless besides home use through wifi.
