Ruth's Chris is not a snobby steakhouse at all.
It's a spectacular place. I'd live there if I could.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
I tried to open an account at Bank of America a couple weeks ago with a check from the same branch I was trying to open the new account. They wanted to put a 7 business day hold on the monies and the account. Why would a bank have to hold money for that long that is already in their own system and same branch?
My only guess and this is based on an assumption that since they had to check if they had enough cash on hand to even cash the check the check was probably relatively large.
And large deposits to open account *could* be reviewed for potential money laundering.
Just one possible reason and is just a guess.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Is Dave and Buster's any good these days? I know they have been catering more towards the adult crowd lately. Long story short I am choosing between D&B and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in terms of a reward card I am receiving. It's enough for 2-3 trips to D&B and one trip to the steakhouse. I've been to RCS and loved it.

That CFB poll is awful. Beyond awful. 3 teams from 1 conference, and these 3 are from the same division!

Oh I know how good it is. I went for the first time earlier this year, but there is also better in Dallas. The 500 degree plate is a genius idea.Comment

Has anyone here used 'LinkedIn'? If so, mind answering this question for me....
If I list a specific company under my previous work experience, will the company itself(and/or people who work for that company) be able to see that I added that company to my past jobs? Basically have to do stuff like this for one of the courses I'm taking, but there's 1 company in the past I only worked at for a short period of time, I want to include it to avoid "gaps" in my work history, but don't really want to if the people from that company can see I put that company on my profile(since I know a few people there didn't like how I was only there for several months)Comment

As someone who interviews and hires people, it's a huge red flag to me if you have a previous work experience you are embarrassed about for any reason.

It seems pretty close knit to me. It seems everywhere I've worked there's people who know me and are asking for connections.
My best guess is those that you connected with then, will be able to at least ask to network with you.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: Off Topic 2014
It's not embarrassed or anything, it's just that that 1-2 people from my past job who weren't happy with me leaving so soon, are on linkedin(they're not part of my network of contacts or anything). So I'd prefer them not being people who a potential future employer could contact(without my permission) since those are the last people I'd have ever asked to get a reference from.Comment

Hiring you is not a right to you, it's a responsibility to the employer.
First thing I do after interviewing someone is to go to their facebook page if they have one to get a view point on them other than what they told me in the interview.
Point is, if you're at all worried about past experience at a job, I would probably leave it off if you think it could come back to haunt you. Job recruiters will use anything they can to find out whatever they can.Comment
