    Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Ran for 3 1/2 miles and biked another 25 miles yesterday. Been faithfully juicing and watching the fat melt off. Down 12 pounds in 24 days. I have the Zombie Run later this month so I want to make sure I can at least handle that.

This is 200 or 205 shoulder press can't remember.

3rd set 7 reps. IG won't let me record that long though.

How are you juicing? Anything I need to look at? Recipes?

I'm extremely interested in juicing for a period of time.

Got my testing done last week ... turns out I'm not allergic to anything! I have a condition that is non-allergic rhinitis. Basically, my air passages in the nasal canal get blocked and my body reacts in a similar manner that one with allergies does. My condition is a little harder to treat because it's caused by so many things, and since I won't be getting allergy shots, I have to try a combination of nasal sprays to see which ones work and which ones don't.

Good news was that I was given the OK to start working out. I got a 4-mile run in on Saturday. It was a bit of a struggle the first mile, but I settled into a good rhythm after that and actually wound up with a time comparable to what I was running before I got sick, so I was happy with that.

Should get to the gym tonight for the first weight training session in a while, and plan on running 2-3 times this week as well.

Recovering and rehabbing from arthroscopic knee surgery from a torn meniscus and early stage of arthritis and fluid under the patella.

I'm just surprised I can walk with a minimal amount of pain from surgery on Friday.

Time to do more rehab, PT said I won't be needing a lot of rehab, which is encouraging.

Well, I am at a good point in my life right now. Continue to eat better and cut things out of my diet. I have really put an emphasis on portion control. I had to do all this for myself and family...

Just started physical therapy for the back so I am looking forward to strengthening my core and getting in better overall shape. Not giving myself ANY excuses for not coming back full duty stronger than I ever have been...

It is nice when people at work ask how much weight I've lost. I was never overweight but you can tell just by looking at my uniform... Swimming in it. It is a nice feeling...

                      Thanks Knight!

I hardly ever work my lower body, so, I asked the orthopod if I did lunges and squats if that would help on the other end. He said, absolutely, figure it like if you did lower body work before hand, you would come out with an 80% full tank of gas after surgery. If you don't do lower leg exercises, you could come out after surgery with a 20% full tank of gas. Easy decision for me. So, I did a lot of leg extensions, lunges and squats a few weeks before surgery to strengthen the hammy muscles.

I had sharp pains on my left knee whenever I got down on all fours. Part of the reason was two hard falls(wish I could say sports injury) on my knee last July, back to back. I didn't start feeling the pains until around the holidays.

I had a sprained ankle several years ago that was worse than this. That sprain lasted 6 weeks.

Orthopod said part of it could be my early start of arthritis. I didn't know they could "shave" arthritis.

                      "Nice" hockey game above. lol

I guess if they catch it early.
Arthritis is a buildup of sorts, isn't it?
                          Good luck though.....

Wife has never been to NYC and keeps saying she wants to go... Maybe in next year or two we will plan a trip. The little one should be good to go for a cross country flight.

Hi looking for some input... Trying to do a keto diet mixed in with IF... My eating hours are 1-9pm.. I workout early in the morning... Like 8am. Should this be an issue? I read somewhere to take bcaa's every 2 hours o avoid muscle loss but wanted to know your thoughts. I'm trying to lose the 40lbs I gained the past 2 yrs
