    Nice rainy day.

Got in a nice 15-mile ride on my hybrid bike today. First ride of the year for me, and the conditions were excellent; around 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

Yesterday I ran 4.5 miles. Tomorrow I'll round out the 3-day weekend with a session in the gym.

DiscountMags has a great sale going on right now. Picked up Men's Fitness and Muscle & Fitness, each for 2 years and spent a total of $19. Flex was another fitness-related mag but I passed on that one.

I don't consider either mag I picked up to be the end all be of information, but I do find it helps with motivation when I flip through them.

What kind of bike do you have DJ? I've been using my brothers spare bike when we ride and it's kind of spoiled me. It's a hybrid carbon and makes doing 20-30 miles very easy.

It's a 2012 Giant Sedona. Got a great deal on it, as the bikes shop was clearing space for new inventory last year, so all "old" models were sold for 50-70% off.

Went hiking today for a few hours. Going to take my mountain bike out for a ride on the trails tomorrow.

Is there any pre-workouts you guys recommend? C4 isn't working for me anymore and I tried Mr. Hyde but it made me feel sick. Any recommendations at all would be greatly appreciated!

I got a tub of NoXplode but not a huge fan. It's okay on heavy days but on volume days it can make me nauseous. I ordered a 20 serving tub of Mr Hyde & 1 serving of White Flood Reborn that should deliver tomorrow. Too late for my morning workout so we'll see on Friday.

I had a sample of 1MR Vortex. I liked it but it gave me a wicked Niacin Flush. I thought I was breaking out from an allergic reaction until I looked it up. It was the first time I pulled 360 in a few months though.

I heard good things about Pre Jym but it's expensive so I'm trying these first.

Honestly if you've already built a tolerance to C4 (2 scoops) I would cycle off of Pre-workouts for a week or two, and cut back on Caffeine products.

You don' want to overload your Central Nervous System, especially so if you are Working out hard + Working at a job + have any stress in your life. It will also allow you to get used to training without that overly cracked out, jittery feeling.

Yeah man my problem is I'm so immune to caffeine because I used to be hooked in soda and I still drink 1 a day. I just always feel like I need a boost of energy to make it to the gym because I work so much bit want to stay in shape.

I was just reading about the structure of abdominals and what can/can't be done to form even, defined abs.

I guess in working on my core, I should develop stronger abdominals. And with my recent intake of more veggies and trying to focus more on burning more calories daily than I take in, I should see a bit of a difference over the course of a few months.
                            Absolutely!
I don't want to poo-poo any traditional forms of ab exercises. I still think there's something to be said for building up the abdominal muscles and make them grow, That will definitely help to make them show.
It's just that if you have layer of fat, it'll be hard to see anything.

This really sucks for me because I have a wicked sweet tooth and I have a hard time saying no to seconds.
I'm lucky in that I'm naturally thin, but as I get older, I notice it's a lot harder keeping weight off. And after years of being glutenous, I've learned bad habits that are hard to break.

Good luck in your weight loss!

Forgot to mention the other day that I weighed myself for the first time in a while and was down to 195 pounds. Last time I believe I was 201-202, so a nice 6-7 pound drop. I'm hoping to get down to 185.

Sounds like you need a De-Load week without the Caffeine, where you lower the volume and weight for a week, just to let your Body re-charge.

Trust me you won't "Lose any of your gains" that's just nonsense Bro science if you've been pushing yourself every month or two you need to have a De-Load week to take it easy on the body... to make sure you are in a Anabolic state and make sure you're getting enough sleep.

It's all about the Recovery. The weights tear down the muscle fibers (Catabolic) and the Nutrition, and Rest re-build the muscle and make it grow. (Anabolic)
