    Re: Wisdom Teeth Removal.....

I got completely knocked out (I have a very low tolerance for pain) and that helped. It wasn't really that bad, some pain afterwards, but nothing the pain meds I was on couldn't help. You just need to make sure to flush out your gums to avoid dry socket. From what I hear, that's worse than actually getting them removed.

The worst part of the whole thing was that I apparently told my mom that I hated her for having my wisdom teeth out while I was under anesthetic. She held that against me for a good week before she finally got over it.

I had all 4 removed at the same time by an oral surgeon, wasn't too bad though as the xanax made it easy to sleep and the vicodin dulled any pain. I probably could've gone to work the next day but stayed home just in case.

Most aggravating part was waiting for the stitches to dissolve, they were quite irritating.

Just woke up and the soreness is gone for now but now the area's where my wisdom teeth are feel dry, feels like there isn't any saliva around the teeth. That and some area's still feel numb.

Yeah, sounds like you might be having some sort of nerve impingement from the teeth possibly growing in irregularly. Definitely should get that checked out.

I had all 3 of mine (both bottom but only 1 upper) removed during semester break my freshman year in college. Lower left was pretty much completely erupted except for a small flap of gum tissue over one corner, other 2 were still under the gumline. I was knocked out too and it was a fairly easy extraction, only needed pain meds for a couple days. It really depends on how bad the teeth are impacted and how well developed the roots are.

I just had my bottom left pulled out. It took them an hour to get it out, it was really in there. I just did the numbing shots, they basically had to drill the tooth apart and take it out in pieces. I have 2 remaining but they really do not need to come out.

Everyone has a different tolerance to pain but overall it was not bad. The biggest thing I could recommend is to follow the care directions after the removal, that will be key in recovery. You do not want any part of dry socket!

I had all 4 of mine removed back in 2007. Only one was showing but I was told it would be better to just remove all 4 at once. I was put under for it and woke up with an insane bout of nausea. They gave me a shot that took the nausea away instantly. I don't remember this at all because I was just coming out from being under, but my girlfriend at the time told me that when I woke up I told her I saw Jesus.

You'll be limited in what you can eat for a few days. I recommend getting Ensure nutrition shakes to drink. Will help you get the nutrients you're missing from not eating certain foods. Ice cream and applesauce are your friends too.

I had all 4 removed years ago. 3 of them were impacted.

I was knocked out and woke up asking when they were going to start and they told me they were already done.

I was hanging out with friends that nite.

Just had to make sure to keep the sockets clean with the syringe thing they give you so you dont end up with dry sockets.

                    Re: Wisdom Teeth Removal.....

Mine wasn't very bad until the last one, I was not allowed to be knocked out. My doctor numbed me up and removed the first three teeth pretty easily. However the last one was coming in at an awkward angle. I had to me numbed up a second time before we could begin and even then it was some of the worst pain I've experienced as the nerve was hit the entire time. I had a welt on my leg from punching it to take my mind off the pain. Once it was over the pain disappeared pretty quickly. However once all the numbing shots go completely away the pain will hit you like a truck. It took a few days to adjust to the pain before I could resume life normally. I also couldn't workout for a few weeks after which really sucked.

                      Oh brother....wisdom teeth...YIKES!

Had one removed down in NYC after work one morning.
Long story short......Don't buy a vanilla shake and use a straw to drink it!!!
(there is a blood clot over the hole left in your mouth....it is the only thing between you and agony!....it is there to cover the exposed nerve ending.)
Well.....using the straw created "dry socket".
                      3 percocets later.....I wasn't feeling any pain....but I also didn't know WTF I was doing!
I opened a cabinet in my kitchen.....dropped something.....and after picking it up...I hit the open door of the cabinet with my head.
I was like...."Ooh....I banged my head a little" and went to bed.
(my wife was out shopping or something)
A few hours later I am awakened by my wife....who is screaming bloody murder.
I had split my head open like a melon and didn't realize I was bleeding like crazy all over the bed.

                      Moral of the story.....
Don't let your wife go out shopping!

Oh geez, but isn't "don't use a straw after the surgery or you could dislodge the clots" one of the first things they tell you before the surgery?

I had two removed my senior year of college the day before Thanksgiving. Everything went well with the recovery while I was at home but two days later when I went back to school I got drunk with my roommates and woke up the following morning to a pain worse than anything I'd had before in my life. Struggled through the day before going back to the oral surgeon the next day. They said I had a dry socket and put medicine and gauze on it.

It healed up quickly but the pain of the dry socket was worse than than anything I'd experienced at that point in my life. It was awful.

I had all 4 removed. I was put under, but it took awhile. Between 5 and 10 minutes from what I recall. I was a tough one. But after that, it was awesome. I was loopy as could be the rest of that day. My pops was outside having a beer with our neighbor when I got home with my ma, and I guess I wanted to have a beer with them, while slobbering Mac Don's milkshake all over myself. Never had any issues. Never had to use the Vicadin, saved them for a later date when I started having elbow issues.

                                Wisdom Teeth Removal.....

It wasn't all that bad for me. I had 4 removed. The only issue I had was I was told to get a good night sleep before which was a mistake. After the surgery and waking up I wanted to just go to sleep and relax but I was wide awake after it so I just sat there and drooled.

I didn't use any pain killers and was able to rake leaves the same day.

I did swell a good amount though.
