    I was lucky enough to be there for the 65th anniversary and it was an incredible experience. The vets always had drinks in their hands as people were lining up to shake their hands and buy them a beer.


    This is my wife's great uncle's burial site. He and his unit were ambushed by Germans and taken prisoner on DDay +1. When none of them gave any information they were executed. They have a memorial site in the abbey were their bodies were later discovered. If you have a chance to go I highly recommend it, we went back a second time, it was that great.

      Being in the Coast Guard was a lot different back then. I couldn't imagine going through what they went through.
