Yeah....I'm not liking how the tone of this thread or the direction it is going.
I'm hearing some cues that I used to use in my law enforcement days before I was about to hand out a Motorola shampoo....."sir, you need to calm down"..."sir, can you take a step back...."...etc.....when the guy was rather calm but just not doing or saying what I wanted to hear.

I totally understand....not my shop...not my rules.
But before I say something I really don't want to(and I mean personally don't want to ....not for fear of ban)...I'll just monitor from a distance.

I really didn't mean to ruffle any feathers on this...

And wtf do they have the first nurse diagnosed over to the Whitehouse for a photo op hug with Obama right after being declared clear? Yeah I get that they are trying to control the public panic level but it is ridiculous to do this. Zero chance to spread it at this point or not, there just isn't a good logical reason for it.

Start making smart decisions about stupid things like that so the public can start haing faith that smart decisions can be made across the board.

I dont see that Knight. I see some people seeing through the media attention and its intention to "scare" people. Then I see others such as yourself who buy in that its a "serious" issue for the states. Its a polarizing topic with strong personalities on both fronts but I don't think the tone is any different than it has been. Agreeing or disagreeing from either camp doesn't mean it has to take this "personal tone".

For instance I see it as no immediate threat for any of us, but I also acknowledge why people such as yourself take a more "safe than sorry" stance. Different strokes for different folks applies well on this topic.

A young boy is being monitored with 103 degree fever. Hopefully, he will be okay and not have this horrible disease. I'm very disappointed with the role back on the hardline that they were doing in New Jersey. Legal issues are coming from it. Too bad. I'd rather someone have to spend 21 days in a tent, then increasing the chance of infecting others.

There was an interesting letter circulating around talking about how we have much more stringent laws regarding animals/livestock being moved from state to state in this country let alone importation so as to minimize the chance of foreign bred diseases and potentially grossly infect a significant portion of that given population.

And oh good, the ACLU is now involved. What took them so long?

Honestly man, the shift in direction is a direct result of the tone of your post(s). It's not even about agreeing/disagreeing with what you have to say, there's no reason to be calling people out.

Since, as you just said, you have history with situations like that you should probably go back and take a look at what you wrote and how it effected the responses. It seems you're personally invested in all of this (understandable) and, in turn, making things personal here.

Well that's because we're not animals. Animal rights are (and should be) different than human rights. The nurse ready to sue was quarantined without showing any symptoms. I'm in no position to say how this should be handled, but if I were a health care professional volunteering and extremely educated about this, I'd probably be pissed if they did that to me too. It's a lot easier to say what they should do when you're not the one being thrown in that situation. The doctor that came back was an idiot, but there's nothing that says he's now infected all of NYC or that everyone should be essentially locked up bc of his stupid decision.

Good luck getting people to volunteer to help this problem if they know they'll basically be in jail for the next month even without any symptoms. I know some don't agree but this is a global issue. And if something pops up here that doctors in India are best to deal with, I hope they are willing to hop on a plane and come help us take care of it too. There has to be a way of handling this without cutting ourselves off from the world. We have one death here that was clearly not handled right. It seems what is currently in practice is working.

This is becoming almost comical. This nurse who spent a month working with Ebola patients, has her lawyers involved. So, hypothetically let's say she starts displaying symptoms of Ebola and actually has it...should she be open to being sued for endangering others? Especially, if others get infected. Now I'm not saying put them in a tent with very little emenities, but I think all steps should be taken to isolate those who have been exposed to this horrible disease.

I think more pressure needs to be placed on medical research for developing vaccinations and/or a cure. This would be the end to all the debate on quarantines or how to handle infected individuals.

I agree with this, but again we only have the one death here and we all agree that wasn't handled properly, so it seems what they are doing now is working.

There was a really good article about how Nigeria handled everything. I wish I posted it over here when I read it.
