Jealous! We got it here in Austin but it's nowhere close to being on my side of town. How fast did it expand in KC?

Agonizingly slow. The part of town that surrounds the downtown area got it first. That roll out took about a year and a half. Then they announced signups for service in the more suburban parts north of downtown where I am back in February. It was installed yesterday. So it took nearly three years from when they finally started building it out to today. Granted, we were the first city so it may not be as slow for you.

So I have about 17 more days left doing this job out of town. It's been an interesting little journey and one of the better decisions I've probably ever made.

Anyways, my current dilemma is that I want to cut this short and get sent home a week early, so I need to come up with some kind of excuse.

The reason is probably a little trivial since it's mostly just to make it back for my buddy's surprise birthday party on the 17th. I've missed out on a few of his birthdays the last few years so it would be pretty cool if I could unexpectedly drop in.

Also, it would be nice to get out of here and permanently back home so I can start getting my life moving forward. I need to get my license and possibly start looking for a better job, going to school and maybe looking for my own place as well, and I'm just a little anxious to get all of that going.

It's not like staying here the full 17 days that's left is going to make that much of a difference either. It's not like we're getting OT out here anymore, so the benefits of staying are pretty minimal.

So anyways, if someone can think of something legit, lay it on me.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but everyone in the states I have given the following advice to has gotten out of work with no questions asked: tell them your roommate (or whomever you live with) received your mail and you we're summoned for jury duty. Works every time.

Haha, that's actually pretty alright. The only thing is I'd also probably have to explain it to my home store, so I don't know how that would go over.

I work in the building where I'd have to go for jury duty. The perfect excuse ruined.
