    Re: Off Topic 2015

We had a few swim calls when I was on the boat. Didn't see any sharks but we did have a shark watch which is basically someone on the bridge with a gun.

Off of Haiti, the water was only a couple of hundred feet deep but no sharks.

Off of Puerto Rico, the water was around 13,000 feet deep but didn't see any sharks.

Bellhops. It's a student moving company. 15/hour plus tips. The best part about it is that you can do it in school too because it's on a "claim a job if you want to work it" basis

I worked at our campus helpdesk. Easiest job I ever had. Watched all 8 seasons of House that summer between being at work and at home.

OK so I had my Anti Virus run out a little while ago. Who do you guys recommend me to get? I am looking for something that is good but won't put a dent in my pocket. So maybe like 30-40 per year.

Avast. They have a free version that's really nice.

Personally I don't see a reason to get anything other than the free versions.

Half the time a bad program is on my computer it's my own lazy fault for not unchecking it while installing something else, scanners won't even catch those and you gotta go the add/remove programs route

I use Webroot. 20 bucks for everything Norton and MacAffee does and uses waaaaaaaaaaaaay less memory.

Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender are perfectly fine and free.

Those aren't on Windows 8. Not sure what OS he has.

Yep I agree... I use Essentials, does the job... Not paying for something I can get for free.

I couldn't get defender but I am going to give Essentials a try.

                          Re: Off Topic 2015

So I just graduated college and I've been at my "real job" for just about a month now. It's a big company so we have offices in several cities across the country.

One of the women on my team (in a different city) is getting married and they're throwing a sursprise wedding shower for her next week, so we had an e-mail going around today if people wanted to sign a card and/or give money.

Now I've only talked to this person once or twice and that was over conference calls. Should I feel obligated to send a (cash) gift? If I do decide to give her some money, how much is an appropriate amount? I'm sure these are probably stupid questions, but I'm 22 and very new to this entire situation and I have no idea what the norms are in this scenario.

You shouldn't feel obligated at all especially considering you've only talked to this person twice and really don't know them.
