Re: Off Topic 2015
Only if someone can explain to me why obscenely loud car/motorcycle engines are cool. I don't know how the people who drive/ride those things aren't rendered completely deaf by that racket.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Off Topic 2015
You guys would have hated me when I was in the states. Two tens in the back of my loud Subaru sti.
My car wasn't high pitches loud, a deep rumble but it I'm sure it bothered people.
I love the thump of hard hitting bass and driving fast cars. I honestly didn't do it to be cool, more so to be exhilarated. But that's not anything new, people been bumpin in rides since the 80s and driving fast/loud cars since the 50s.
Some people just love to be engulfed in sound. Either be at a concert or in their car.

Re: Off Topic 2015
These are the three groups of loud-*** cars that bother me.
My neighbor's nephew and his friends drive ricers. They sound like wound up lawn mowers with bass. And the jerks come over at like 2 AM and just sit in the driveway with the stereo on. But because his uncle usually works nights, he's not around to tell him to shut the damn thing off.
When I lived in Akron and Memphis, the next group were those that had stereos and rims that were worth more than the car. You aren't cool in your rusted out '84 Oldsmobile just because you put some 22's on it and you sound like the exhaust is going to fall off from the bass. You're just asking to have it stolen because a car like that is a piece of cake to steal in 2015; it was a piece of cake to steal in 1985.
And then you have the ones that take off the muffler/catalytic converter/etc. There is this guy that is lucky to get 5 MPG with the way he drives that every morning winds it up to the red line getting out of the neighborhood. Now, I'm awake because I go to work early. That doesn't mean I want to hear. Your. Dumb. ***. ****ing. Truck. At. ****ing. 5. AM. Because. You. ****ing. Think. You're. A. ****ing. Redneck. And hes' not even in a real big truck. It's just some standard pickup he's made a mess of. Makes me wish I was back home. Then I could show him what a truck looks like that should sound like that. And promptly drag his into a ditch with it.Comment

Saw it Saturday night. Didn't think UFO. Was watching Cal and Oregon. Just assumed the green was some kind of nerve gas attack so I went back inside and figured at least I'd die watching college football.Comment

Anyone play LEGO Dimensions yet?
I have LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Star Wars, and though mindlessly easy (to the point that it's hard because it's so simple... I overthink), they're fun to be able to play with the wife or anyone who isn't a gamer.
I really wanna experience the crossover of different franchises all LEGO'ed out, but the $99 price tag is a bit daunting. I know it's jacked up because of the physical interactivity, but I want to make sure it'll get play time to justify it. Seen almost all positive reviews but figured I'd ask around here too.

Coming back to this, you can get the Starter Pack from amazon for $69.99 if you use the promo code LEGOMOMS. Great price and it almost got me, but I watched this vid and it just reinforced the notion of how this game is ripping us off based on all the previous Lego games:
That guy was seriously bumming me out.
LEGO notoriously "forces" you to buy more and more on top of each other as a toy, so it didn't surprise me to see them pull the same thing for this game. Since they made the portal peripheral (I assume the peripheral is only used for this game) they're trying to milk its usage as much as possible.
The game is still plenty fun. It's not hardcore at all, just like all LEGO games, so the complaint about levels doesn't fly with me. I played this game for multiple hours during Extra Life 2015 and I think I'm about 25-33% done. Now I don't play too many games outside of sports, so maybe that's not a long start to end time but it's plenty for me.
The portal peripheral is tedious like he says. I think it's mostly a matter of taking your brain out of the video game and actually physically moving characters around on the portal. Sounds fun and it is at first, but it does get old pretty quick.
I like to play games for the experience, so 100%'ing every level (or not being able to without DLC/buying more minifigs) doesn't bother me. I still beat the game, I don't care if I didn't collect every coin.
My main thing with this was crossing Batman with The Simpsons, or LOTR with Scooby Doo. You still get that with what's built in to the game (even if you have to buy more characters to get the expanded experience) so I can't feel like I'm not getting what I paid for. The three figs you control is all you really need. Do I really need to be Frodo just so I can see what his attack animation looks like?
I do agree that the abundance of those yellow boxes makes sure you know you can get more game if you pay for it. That's pretty annoying and obnoxious, but I got over their frequent appearances pretty quickly.
You can buy characters for 30 second intervals with in-game coins. I did this as soon as I could (took a while because they're expensive) but I'm not sure if that solves the issue people have with their being so much locked stuff or not.
I'd probably wait to buy it for cheaper down the line, but it was worth the buy for me. Was the hit game as people cycled in and out during Extra Life 2015. Something I can play with my wife or any future children we have. Accessible and fun for everyone.Last edited by slickdtc; 11-09-2015, 06:32 PM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
