The original Metal Gear Solid (PS1) is a glaring omission IMO.

Got my money for 360, PS3 and PS4 versions.
Game is addicting as all get out...
Have no issues with it being high on the list.

You have to have Mario, Pong and Pacman in there or all of this is a sham. Also I would throw in Tetris in there.

Without Tetris, none of these cell phone games exist.

Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto III are games that I would've liked to have seen on the list.

If we're putting a sports game in there, I think you have to go with Madden (pick a year between 92 and 2006). It's a game that has taken a lot of lumps (deservedly so at times) over the last decade, but it did pave the way in many regards for other sports video game franchises.

Angry Birds? I'd bump that off the list. No lasting value at all to that game (I get that it made tons of money).

                Shouldn't ET also get consideration?

                    Was thinking the same thing.

Mario, Zelda, Pong, Pac Man, tetris and space invaders are a given. Considering its the first class, Id leave it at that.

Doom and some of the others certainly deserve it but i wouldn't necessarily need to see them in the first class like the above.

                    Angry birds?

Resident Evil I think should be on the list. Made Survival horror a fairly mainstream genre and the fact that almost every game has a zombie in it. It made a lasting impression. It also lead to the most successful video game movie franchise. It was also many gamers first time crapping themselves over a game when the dog jumped through the window.

Follow-up: the six inductees for the inaugural class were announced.

Yeah I would have voted those exact ones in too. I don't understand how Street Fighter 2 was not even a nominated. I think it's the greatest arcade game of all time.
