There are some officers here at OS that probably have a better idea, but I don't think it's happening any more than usual. Things involving violence and police officers is at the front of the news these days, and this is the other side of it so I think it's getting more attention than isolated incidents would in the past.

This particular story seems to be a huge man hunt so I think it's getting even more shine because it's bigger than some others (I think there was an officer in Texas on Friday?).

This year and going into last year for my area has seen a bit more violence than usual; rape and theft are the most seen crimes here. One officer was shot during a traffic stop who had a ride-along with him. There's been a few officer involved shootings, one just a week or so ago. Usually this area would see maybe one case of gun violence in a year or two and we're at 3 or 4 already now

Wait movie theatres have security?

They do, but they are more concerned about you smuggling in a box of candy and a soda from the convienient store down the street.

There's been a serial shooter in Phoenix who's been shooting into the i10 highway. They haven't got anyone yet thank God. I used to live right by the area and have a friend's with kids that use that everyday . Now the fbi is involved. Whoever is doing this needs to burn. ****ing losers.

I don't want a pat down when I go to a movie theater. It shouldn't ever have to get to that point. I would just never watch movies in theater.

Get a female security guard, and I'll go more often.

I'm pretty sure you're more likely to get hit by lightning than get caught up in a mass shooting.

This talks about death, and being killed by a gun, rather than a mass shooting, so it's not completely related.

These odds are probably much higher if you take "death" out of the equation, but I couldn't find those numbers. And I'm not smart enough to figure out the odds of being in a mass shooting.
