Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
Tony Scott and Denzel Washington's Man on Fire is a remake.
EDIT: Oh, also a couple of weeks ago after I saw Dark Fate, I was talking to my friend about it who said she was rusty with her T1 and T2, so I said I'd lend them to her blah blah blah... anyway we spoke of the other Terminator films we'd seen, and while I hadn't seen Genisys I was describing it as: "That movie has Emilia Clarke as a younger Sarah Connor, um... I think Jason Clarke plays John Connor... wait a minute... the Clarke's played the Connor's??" I was sitting there thinking, wouldn't it be weird if they were siblings and they played a mother-son combo? Turns out they're not siblings, but I never put two-and-two together. Probably because I didn't ever actually see the film.Last edited by Blzer; 12-14-2019, 01:31 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

mmm, no baseball basketball or football (American, as if I should have to distinguish from soccer lol), no AC or even electricity. was there indoor plumbing? I'll stick with 1869 as the first Damn Good Year. any before that were merely regular good years.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
just looking at Tony Scott's resume as director. didn't know he did True Romance. Sure, he made bigger box-office draws but this is my favorite movie of his. The thing is when I think True Romance, Tarentino's name first comes to mind. And how can you not like a movie with a prostitute named Alabama.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I don't know his film release order (I think I do but won't try) so I'll just write the first ones to come to mind, but here are the Tarantino writer-director film credits:
Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Pulp Fiction
Inglourious Basterds
Django Unchained
Reservoir Dogs
The Hateful Eight
Jackie Brown
Death Proof
As far as Tony Scott goes, he definitely had great visual flair told through editing (like Edgar Wright, but in a different way). It's funny how often he collaborated with Denzel, and all of those flicks are stellar (the aforementioned Man on Fire, Deja Vu, The Taking of Pelham 123, and Unstoppable). Scott was taken from us too soon. Would have loved to see more of him today, for sure.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
The phrase "famous last words".
When I was younger I never knew what that meant. For some reason I always thought it was something like "Phamus(spelling not important here) last words", as in theres a person(philosopher for some reason) who went by that name and it was some running gag where anytime someone makes a statement, people would use that phrase.
So that guy basically got turned into some Chuck Norris/Yakov Smirnoff type joke. Nobody knew his actual last words, so they'd always randomly fill in the blank.Comment

Things that took you way too long to realize....
I’ve been singing the Bingo song incorrectly my whole life, apparently.
I thought it was: “There were some kids who had a dog...” and instead it’s “There was a farmer had a dog...”
That sentence doesn’t even make sense. Unless you use commas I guess, but the lyrics I just read on the bottom of the screen didn’t (doing songs with my baby nephew) so it was just weird. Plus, the video only had kids and no farmer, so I’m still somewhat perplexed.
Everyone else in my family always said “farmer.” I don’t know where I got “kids,” but I guess I’m the wrong one here.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
There is actually a lot of theories on why this is in the movie...but one of the most plausible, IMO, is that the original script was written with the movie centered around Thanksgiving, which is when the game actually occurred that year. The theory is that they later shifted the script to be centered on Christmas, but never went back to change the football game."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

At that point, McTiernan likely yelled cut and demanded a rewrite.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
