I wish Disney would hurry up and show us more about Rogue One. Maybe in two months on May 4th...

Love this guy, he's hilarious but also has amazing technique. Interesting to also hear a Chinese/English accent

Anyone ever go to the Cayman Islands or Turks and Caicos? Deciding where to go for my honeymoon. Unsure of any differences or where I can get the best bang for my buck.Comment

Well, it'll only be for 4 days but I just want the ultimate relaxation. Great hotel, good vibe, safe, and things to do. Generally speaking, it appears activity wise you can do pretty much the same in all of these places.
I really wanted to head to Bali but with the attack there last year it may not be the best idea.Comment

LOL I just read that the former Subways guy Jared gained 30 pounds in prison. I don't know how the hell you can gain weight eating prison food but there ya go.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I haven't been to those places but I'm sure one of my friends have. I can ask them.
I will say Costa Rica and Roatan Honduras is a lot of fun. I don't know if you looked at those places. I believe NDAlum went to Costa Rica for his honeymoon.MLB: Texas Rangers

I have not. We are doing 4-ish days in the Carribean and another 4 days or so in Cali to give us a good mix of things to do and explore. Very excited to drive the Pacific Coast highway.Comment

Re: Off Topic Episode 2016: The Posts Awaken
Haven't been anywhere in the Caribbean for 4 days, been on 2 cruises, so just most of a day in one place, but the Caymans are much safer than the Turks & Caicos, that much is obvious from 1 day there. Most of the smaller islands outside of Jamaica/Bahamas are pretty similar. Relaxing is about the ONLY thing to do on many of them. But, just about every island you can think of, crime is an increasingly common problem. Rich tourists are the perfect opportunity and it's at least somewhat of a problem no matter where you are. Caymans are on the safer end for sure, so to is Barbados and Grenada. The Turks and Caicos are almost as bad as Jamaica, the Virgin Islands or Trinidad.Comment

Re: Off Topic Episode 2016: The Posts Awaken
We vacationed with another couple in the late 90's in the South Caribbean. We landed in Grenada and made it to our sail boat.(the company is no longer in business) Of all the islands we visited, in my opinion, Grenada was in the worst shape. The beach looked nice, but, I just have bad memories from that place. Our friends left a day earlier and were walking the beach and my friend was cornered by two stray dogs and bitten by one of them. He went through a lot including a hospital visit to the ER and recovering after the bite healed.
Maybe Grenada has changed since then.
We did like Mayru and Mustique Island a lot and otherwise had a great time on the trip.Comment

I talked to my friend who has been to both. He said Turks and Caicos really shuts down if a cruise ship isn't there. He loved the Cayman Islands and so did the rest of his cutter.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Off Topic Episode 2016: The Posts Awaken
Never thought I'd be a sit on the beach and indulge myself kind of guy, but as I've gotten older and moved back from Eugene to Toronto it's been really nice to do this once in a while in winter. I've done the Yucatan, Jamaica, St. Kitts, and even Cuba.
Let me tell you, outside of the resorts (which are still generally a step below the rest of the Caribbean), Cuba, and Havana are truly the most foreign places I've been. I've been a lot of places (and a lot of more and less developed places), but man, the informal capitalism and the State are two sides even a tourist off the beaten path has to navigate clumsily between. And, the mishmash of crumbling Spanish colonial, American art deco, and Soviet-style rational brutalism with an incredible tropical backdrop makes for striking imagery.
Take a day trip to Havana on a whim, and decide you want to stay the night at some old run down Casino Hotel? No credit cards, of course, so find yourself a bank watch the bank teller try to skim a hefty sum arbitrarily.
It'll be different now that relations with the U.S. are normalizing, but man was it ever fascinating.Comment
