Married joint combined separate?

Typically the best avenue is a Married Filing Jointly which will allow certain deductions for you where as Married Filing Separate doesn't (ie: Child Care deduction, tuition and fees deduction, student loan interest, etc).

MFS is typically only used in special cases of undue tax/garnishment burden on a spouse without the other's knowledge. Usually its most beneficial to file jointly.

I did my taxes last night.
It was January 28th.

Getting a return so that was a pleasant surprise. But tell me, how does married joint combined separate make ANY sense?

If you filed married, joint, combined, separate, you may want to redo your taxes I've never heard of that (I am not a tax professional)

Eh, maybe I'm misremembering what it called it. MFJ or MFS are the options I've always heard, but I could've sworn it described it in a way that contradicted itself. I can't find anything on Google for what I thought it described the filing status as.

We just used TurboTax and it recommended the best option. Hopefully we didn't screw anything up.

I wonder if someone could help me find an article on something, though it's a bit obscure (and unfortunately I don't know if such an article exists, but I'm trying to remind myself about all of the details so my friend gets it):

I was at a 49ers game probably about 15 years ago when the halftime show was a skydiving exhibition by U.S. Navy SEALs. They did the colored trails and everything, landing onto midfield. Well, one guy's chute came out and unlatched from him, and we saw the silhouette of a man flipping over and over, and falling outside of the stadium. We all gasped and thought we just saw a man fall to his death. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Anyway, about ten minutes later or so, the jumbotron showed a shot of a tree with a chute kind of over it, and the announcer was like, "Good news, he's OK!"

That's about the best I got for the story, but simple Google searches aren't helping me out here. I don't remember the opposing team nor can I recount an exact year (but it was probably early 2000s). I know it happened, though... that much is certain!

I did a quick Google search and there's a YouTube video of Navy Seals landing during halftime of the 2006 game against the Rams. But there's nothing about a guy's chute coming unlatched. So maybe that was a different game. I don't know how many times the Seals have done that at Niners games.

Thanks. It's not that one. It definitely was a different game. Admittedly, I have only gone to two NFL games in my life, and they were both around the 10-13 years old camp (which lands me between 1998-2001). I know one of them was against the Lions with my best friend (I think that was the second one), and I think the time I saw it happen was with my sister, so that must have been the first time.

I'll text her later and see if she remembers. Strangely, it's the kind of thing that even if there isn't an online article about it, you know that if it happened yesterday it would be on every media site in the world, especially something like Vine or what have you.
