Of course P.A.D. just saw that I am a mod now and his brain imploded.

But in all honesty I wish you the best. It is very hard to change ingrained, long term behavioral habits. Not saying that it can't be done but it takes a lot of work and some pretty harsh looks into yourself that are not always easy to deal with.

Not gonna get into it here. Of course there are really people who think like that, but they're typically the exception.

And what is the difference between "life application" and "advice". The bottom line is that if the guidance on how to live your life, tips, suggestions, and the like are coming from someone other than yourself.... it doesn't matter how you spin it or package it... it's all advice. He needs to figure it out for himself. Just like he figured out that he doesn't like how he's handling things right now. And then he needs to figure out how he wants to apply it in the context of his own life.

But you can't really change your personality. You are who you are. You can work to improve on situational awareness so that you can control yourself but a top-down personality change? Impossible.

I agree. I thought New Yorkers were rude until I went there for dry dock and they are pretty nice people. I never had a problem.

          There's nothing to get into

You just asked me what it was and answered your own question

Anyway, there are really no disagreements going on in particular so lets leave it there.

He knows what he needs to change simply because he knows what his problem is, it's just not a surface thing that's all. Change always happens on the inside before the outside shows.

I don't think it's NY'ers. I think it's big city folk in general. The pace is just that much quicker. Everyone has to be where they have to be, and they'll run you over to get there. Specifically the northeast where we're all jam packed in to one region and probably other huge population centers like LA too.

Hold the door for you? And be 3 seconds later? Nope.

I've done a bit of traveling across the U.S. in the past 2 years and I always know when I'm back in Philly. When I've been in easier, slower places (Midwest, southern, northwest) it's a whole different vibe. People are people, but there's a certain difference. I mean, there's a reason this stereotype exists.
