Just wondering where you met your girlfriend/wife.

I always like hearing stories of how couples meet. As a single 33 year old guy, I find it extremely difficult to meeg women. I work evenings during the week so I don't get out much. Lol people even claim they met their mate at the grocery store or other random place and I was just wondering how common it is for people to meet their mate outside of work or school. It doesn't seem like it happens often but I started this thread to see if I'm wrong.

Met my wife at a nightclub in Manhattan.
I was a bouncer there and she was a waitress and going to school to become a therapist.
Pretty big club.....lots of people working there.....and they all thought I was a bit nuts.
She was a pretty tough girl from Hell's Kitchen...with a true redhead Irish temper.
30 years later....I'm still alive!..(some close calls though!!)

My wife and I met online on Match.com in September of 2008. Hit it off and got married in October 2010 and still going strong.

My best friend's sister's best friend at the time. She was a senior when I was a sophomore when we first started talking, though she graduated by the time we got together.

There was a time they (our best friends) weren't happy about it, but we've been together 10 years this December with a son due any week now so it worked out without causing any drama.

If I had to look now, I'd probably do it online. Work relationships are iffy, I'm not in school, and the bar scene is not where I want to find a good girl although it's not impossible. It's like a soft introduction before meeting up in the real world. The stigma is eroding, and with everyone so connected it's just a natural progression IMO. Too many of my friends stay within the circle of friends and it never works out at this point (mid-20's). I'd want it to be someone completely new and different, not someone I didn't care about until availability became a thing.

But I'd do me for a while if anything did happen, then try to lock one down when everyone is more settled in their 30's. But things are going well, so barring tragedy I won't have to think about it.

Actually met mine in grad school. I went from PA to KY blindly to Morehead State. We were a small class. Initially I asked her to go get a Coke and she thought I was trying to get in her pants. I wasn't. But later I was. We've stuck it out ever since then. I'm blessed to have her. (that's even shorter than Reader's Digest would accept)

I met my girl at a yoga retreat in Palawan Philippines. We had some things in common like we were vegetarian at the time and we both had psoriasis so we understood what we were going through. Mine was way worse but she knew what I was going through and it made it much easier to open up to her.

I was in la la land at the time too because I was in the middle a coconut fast I did for 21 days straight, meditating a couple hours a day with a monk. Crazy time and I connected really deep with people including my current girlfriend. I was seriously high but without doing drugs. It was the weirdest thing to reach that state naturally.

I've been grounded for awhile since then because of all my energy is put towards the resort we creating. She decided to retire as a nurse and come help with the project and the last two years is result of our collaboration.

Met my wife in seminary at SMU. Dated for 5 months before we got engaged and next March we will celebrate 10 years of marriage.

Met my wife at work. She was a mechanical engineer, I was electrical/software. We both had the same group of friends so we would all hang out all the time. One week a bunch of the friends were traveling so we decided to hang out just the two of us. Wasn't supposed to be a "date", turned into a 2 day date as we took the next day off work and went on a day trip. Got engaged 6 months later, married a little over a year after that and just had our 14 year anniversary in March.

Met my wife at church when in I was in college at Auburn. Got married two weeks after I graduated. Next year will be 15 years.

I met my wife online. After a day of talking, we went on our first date and have basically been with each other ever since.
