I had a pneumonia scare about 7 years ago. I've never really had a terrible time with allergies, but that year I started prepping furniture in the warehouse rather than working on the showroom floor. The warehouse has these big fans in the back to create circulation so there's all kinds of dust, cardboard debris, and God knows what else floating around.

I would be prepping furniture and my chest would tighten and I would literally lose my breath and start wheezing. I'd have to take a break to go outside and catch my breath. This went on for a week before I finally went to the doctor.

I let my allergies get so bad it went down into my lungs and gave me a case of pneumonia.

Nothing as extreme as staying in the hospital but that **** is no joke.

I think a similar situation is what caused mine Fresh. I was walking thru our back shop and one of the shop hands had a leaf blower, blowing out old dust & like you said lord knows what else. Basically they were spring cleaning a 30 year old building with a frigging leaf blower and I happen to come around corner in the middle of a dust bomb. I bitched to them about it how dumb they were but then went about my way getting coffee. 2 days later I went home early from work cause i felt a little run down. Next day I went back in but couldn't make it past 10am before I headed to the house with a slight fever of 101.

You always hear how the flu and pneumonia kill the old and very young but its hard to mentally grasp since we are use to fighting the common cold far more. As a healthy middle aged guy and struggling to knock those 2 bugs out my system, I'm way more mindful now how dangerous these bugs are for when I get older. 60+ year old me might not be here right now.

Went to McDonalds for the first time in forever today. McChickens used to be $1 on the dollar menu, now they are $1.75 each, crazy.

There's a guy at my work that had been there almost 20 years and recently changed positions within the last year...he's an avid UNC fan and what seemed like a good guy.

He got fired yesterday for falsifying documents, lying to an auditor, and costing the company a substantial amount of money. It took him, from what the supervisor told me, a walk-through of 5 examples before he finally fessed up to it.

This is only the 2nd guy that I've worked with here in my 10 years that has gotten fired. Somebody has to be legit foolish to get fired. My dad instilled in me when I was a kid: "Right always turns up right...wrong always turns up wrong." It's just amazing how adversity really shows the true character of people.

So this weekend the Kentucky Derby festivals kick off with Thunder Over Louisville. Meaning that for the next few weeks all I'll be hearing about is the Kentucky Derby this and the Kentucky Derby that.

Hopefully these two weeks will fly by because I HATE the Kentucky Derby.

I'll watch the first 2 legs of the Triple Crown but if the same horse doesnt win I wont watch the 3rd leg.
The derby isnt really about horse racing. When Oscar Wilde said deceiving others is what the world calls a romance, he could have been talking about the derby
I think for a LOT of people, the Super Bowl is the same way. Thankfully for me the derby is a 2 minute affair and not a 2 week one.
