I still don't see Pitt as an ACC team...my immediate thought is still Big East.

I don't think even Pitt fans see them as an ACC team.

I've finally accepted that they're an ACC team now. In fact, for the 31st seasons of my NCAA Football dynasty, I moved the conferences to as close to current alignments as I could from the largely geographical custom conferences I'd been using for the first 30 seasons.

25 years ago today, Cat 5 Hurricane Andrew(worst Hurricane to strike the US outside of Hurricane Katrina in 2005) struck Florida and apparently the state still is prepared for a storm anyhwere near that magnitude:

Who's up for next chapter of "Tales from My Work"?


After talking to 'higher ups', they gave me something to do. Told me I had a few weeks to do it. A week later they came back and seemed to forget the date they told me, so ended up giving me a week extra. What they didn't realize is that I finished it days before lol.

They've done some shifting around the building so technically I've been "demoted" (position wise), however I got a pay increase lol. So I'm no longer really doing anything I got hired to do, or am paid what they originally offered me(it's more as I mentioned). Though what they did move me to is something not related to anything I've done in the past and requires me to learn everything necessary for the job in 1 day. It's nothing hard, but like I said, it's nothing I got hired to do or have experience in so hopefully it goes well.


I swear I'm not making this up. Some weird guy came in here off the street insistent that someone he's looking for is here. He starts grilling me about their whereabouts and trying to get to the bottom of it. Finally I got the right info out of him and realized he was in the wrong building. So I quickly directed him straight to that building and made sure he left here asap. Long story short, I NEED to write a book!

the only thing better would have been if they had done the work instead of you, forgotten they did it, and credited you with doing it.

Sounds like a pretty disorganized organizational structure where you work Maj.

I got a call on Monday from a person who said they found my resume and wanted me to come in for an interview, only problem is I only got about half the message since the lady apparently started talking as soon as my phone went to voicemail without waiting for the prompt. I thinking it was some sort of financial or insurance type company, and even though I'm not currently looking for a job, I tried to call back Tuesday morning before work, but it was too early and apparently you can't even leave messages outside of business hours as it just played a message saying when business hours were and hung up. Didn't even say what the company was called. I didn't get around to trying again until this afternoon, but this time the phone just rang twice and then nothing.

In other news, I walked out of my apartment this morning then literally right as I pulled the door shut and it locked behind me, I realized I'd forgotten my keys, wallet, and phone. I'm just standing there in the hallway trying to figure out what to do (I didn't want to call the building management because they have a ridiculous $75 lock-out fee) so I just kept grabbing the doorknob and violently shaking the door and miraculously on the 4th or 5th time I did this, I managed to make the lock disengage and the door opened. I was like "okay" and went in, grabbed my stuff, and left making sure the lock still worked properly on my way out. And before anyone gets any ideas, you'd have to get through a steel gate and a much sturdier outside door before getting to my apartment door.

It is. To be fair, it's vacation season so many people are in and out all the time. But not a whole lot of direction either way. The pay is nice though(probably about 30% more than I was expecting from other positions) so that obviously outweighs the bad.

Anyone hear the new Taylor Swift single? My Facebook newsfeed blew up with people claiming they hated it.

I personally don't like her or her music (I do like Blank Space though), but after listening to this single I really like the verses and then despise the chorus. Maybe she's going for a concept album or she's just finding her dark side, but personally I'm all for it.
