Something I didn't expect but probably shouldn't be surprised about - I heard the cicadas come out for a few minutes from the nearby forest. They're as confused as everyone else.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
It was 80% covered where I'm at. Not nearly as dark as I thought it'd get. It looked really eerie out though.

I didn't notice it that much. Though I was inside, but it just looked from here like you were viewing it through tinted windows or light sunglasses or something.Comment

Yeah, my area was 90% and it looked eery too. Different type of sunlight than normal.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
It was just kinda...overcast outside while it was happening.
Nothing too different which I expected since we were further from its path compared to folks in NC/SC.

I think we got 98% here. It was cool to see how the temp dropped and we had this cool type of atmosphere for a couple minutes.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Here's a pretty cool video from Lincoln City, Oregon where it hit 100% totality for the first time.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
I don't know what percentage the eclipse was here, but it looked like a crescent moon. Pretty much like the Dreamworks logo.
EDIT: Here is actually a series of shots that my colleague took and just sent to me:
As far as the spiders conversation, I never kill them if I don't have to (with two exceptions, which I'll mention in a second). There was even a spider that I saw in my shower once I turned it on, and immediately began to splash water on it to go down the drain. It didn't get down before I thought better of it, so I grabbed paper to pick it up and bring it outside. It was curled in a ball the entire time. I thought I had "drowned" it already. But alas, after I showered I saw it kind of wringing out its legs outside. Guess it survived. I felt kind of good about doing that. I realize others here aren't nearly that considerate towards spiders.
Anyway, one exception to the rule was last Thursday when there was a spider on a subwoofer that I took out of my garage. I thought I'd have a little fun with it and YouTube "best bass drop ever." When it hit, the spider disappeared. It either flew off or it disintegrated. Some way to go, eh?
The other exception is if I just let nature take its course, though this particular example was by complete accident. I think I mentioned it here before once actually. It was another shower story where I saw it inside and trapped it under a cup, went back and finished my shower, and when I came back out the spider was outside of the cup! So I try and trap that spider, and as I do it I realize it was just another spider as the other spider appeared from underneath the cup. Eventually I trap both in there, then I put a clipboard underneath and brought them outside. Only one spider limped out, and inside the cup were web shots streaked across and a spider leg. I think one spider killed and ate the other. Again, that's just me letting nature take its course. It's not like I killed the other spider after.Last edited by Blzer; 08-21-2017, 04:22 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

So glad the eclipse is over.
So tired of hearing about it

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
This man said he caught a spider in his shower and basically gave it a bath so it could go down the drain.
You gotta go, man.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom
Man. I read the sky was supposed to get crazy dark and scientists were gonna be watching animals to see how the responded to this eclipse. This event was the most overhyped event since Y2K.
