Re: Off Topic 2017: Because this isn't overtime

Yeah, I've been on a nostalgia kick lately. Been playing the old Super Mario Bros games on the NES for past few days.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

To counteract my fiance gave me a Sega Genesis with Jurassic Park, Aladdin, Sonic, and The Lion King. We also went to the local game store and I picked up NBA Jam TE, Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, and Sonic 2. I also snagged Rogue Squadron for the N64.

Its amazing how great those games still are. It was such a rush, but then to realize how much I missed as kid or didn't appreciate is like coming in completely fresh again.
      I turned 29 last Friday...happy birthday!

I do agree that it's interesting how different your mind set it when you look back at life and how you thought of things. I've really taken to the "pick your battle" mantra too...some things ain't worth it to spend even 1 minute to think about or worry over.

Regarding the Sega...you need to get the TMNT Hyperstone Heist. Awesome game. It's also amazing how many people that love Sonic who have never played Sonic 3/ Sonic & Knuckles as it was definitely one of my favorite games. I remember having Lion King but as a kid, never could figure out how to get past the stampede stage.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yeah. I tried playing the SNES version not realizing they were made by different companies. I didn't make it through the first level.

Heh, I remember that game. Or more precisely, I remember a glitch you could do with it. I guess you could call it the raptor-Grant glitch. I don't remember how to do it, but the end result was you were essentially playing Grant's levels as the raptor with a character that mostly looked like Grant but with some raptor textures and you could kill enemies as if though you were the raptor.

But Sonic & Knuckles is a 32x game, isn't it?

And on a related note. With all the classic retro NES nostalgia hype lately, I found out that my sister apparently sold our old NES a year or so ago.

I just beat Super Mario Bros. 3 again a few weeks ago.

I have it downloaded to my 3DS XL.. 5$ is a steal for a game I poured so many hours into over the years.

What kind of TV do you have it connected to ? I found the SNES and controllers my sister and I had when we were kids a few weeks ago when digging through storage at my parents, but I couldn't find any games or connection cords.

Two of my cousins own a collectibles store in town and I want to start collecting from there and the internet so hopefully if my kid ever starts becoming interested in games one day we can start somewhere a little easier.

I ask about the TV because I remember connecting and older console to an HDTV few years back and the resolution made it look a little rough. I may have to try to run down an older TV as well.

We are supposed to receive our first accumulating snow tomorrow morning. While its only supposed to be 1-2 inches, it will still create panic in people and challenge their driving abilities.

We have it connected to a Westinghouse HDTV that has two AV/Component inputs in the back, but we use an AV switch to have our Sega, SNES, and N64 hooked up at the same time. I think Ashleigh has an old tube TV in storage somewhere, but surprisingly the games look great on the Westinghouse - better than anything I remember seeing on my old TVs as a kid.

Of course if we ever upgrade the TV (it is at least 5 years old and was lacking brand new I figure) we'll have to figure out a way to convert AV to HDMI since none of the TVs I want have any AV inputs.
