Re: Off Topic 2017: December to Remember
If you open a carton of eggs, crack two of then for breakfast do you dispose of the egg shells or just put them back in the carton ? My Fiance and I have been discussing this because my entire life my family has always just left the cracked egg shell.. 28 years later and I've never contracted salmonella.
I can definitely see why someone would just throw them away, but that's just something new to wrap my brain around.
What say you OS.. is my family just weird ? There's so many things we do different like combining spaghetti noodles and sauce in a pan while cooking or serving seperate.. just kinda figure this might be one of those things .Comment

I've never heard of putting the shells back in the carton, is there any reason? Seems like if you're done with them and gonna toss them somewhere the garbage is the spot, it seems weird to put them back in the cartonWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Off Topic 2017: December to Remember
Can't believe it's final day of 2017! One more new years after this in the "'teens", then we're entering the 20s!
Maybe it's just me, but I don't find new years so special. Mainly since I go to bed past midnight most nights anyways. Not exactly "staying up" when counting down to midnight. And most things I do NYE can be done basically any weekend anyways.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2017: December to Remember
2017 was a rocky year. It started with my son being hospitalized around the Easter holiday and concluded with the passing of my mom.
Ready for 2018I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Off Topic 2017: December to Remember
Just a clarifying question...what do you think the benefit of putting them back in the carton would be? I'm not sure I understand the motivation for what you gain. Is it so you don't spill bits of yolk and shell on the counter or the floor on the way to the trash? Or so you don't have to touch the garbage can lid and then wash your hands or...gulp...not wash your hands? Is the nearest garbage far away?
Just crack the egg and empty it and put the shell back In the carton and then throw it all away at the same time. Like I said, I can see why someone would just throw it away because that seems the most common, but it also seems pretty common for people just to do what I do and put it in the carton.Comment

Quicker and less mess when you're using multiple eggs I suppose. I've never even given it any thought until yesterday. You don't need an extra napkin, bowl, etc. to hold she shells until you're done especially when using several eggs for something like a cake or eggnog.

I put the two or three eggs shells back in the carton until I'm done cooking that morning before throwing them in the disposal. That seems pretty common.
I thought you meant you leave the empty shells in the carton for a week or so until all the eggs were gone.Comment
