Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
I'm not at the practices.
I wasn't in the game.
I don't wear the jersey.
I'm not on the coaching staff.
I don't have a role in the administration of the organization.
I'm not a major contributor financially to any team I root for.
Therefore, I don't use "we" or "us" when talking about the teams for who I am passionate. I don't have the same fervor I did when younger, but I am still in their corner.Comment

I understand the impetus of those that do use "us" and "we", I just don't follow the same logic.
This one is probably gonna go down as "there are 2 kinds of people in this world".Comment

I like to think that Danny Ainge listens to my advice on what players to sign/draft, especially when I @ him on Twitter. Because of that, I consider myself a member of Celtics Management. Danny, if you're reading this I'm tired of working pro bono, put my on our payroll, yo.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

We/Us/They...I use which ever word pops up in my head first and will continue to do so.
All the "Well, you're not on the team so how you can you say we?" folks, I pay no attention to.#RespectTheCultureComment

Pro teams I just don't really care enough to use it. If I grew up a diehard I might sing a different tune like some guys in here.

Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
What I wanna know is what does going to school somewhere have to do with making it "better" to say "we"? Sometimes I see people say "unless you went to that college, then it's ok" or things along those lines.
If you were just a student, then the same "I didn't play, I didn't win the game" stuff holds true too.
No different than your favorite pro team, really.
I don't judge people otherwise though...just her mostly lol I get that other people can feel just as much as a fan.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
I have a cousin that graduated from UAB then went to The U of Alabama for his masters, but he's an Auburn fan and refers to them as ''us'' and Bama as ''they''. He's been a lifelong Auburn fan since he was in elementary school, I'm not sure why he didnt go to Auburn, never asked him. Now he's the principal of a local high school and he still calls his old high school alma mater ''us''. To top it off he played football in high school and now his (and mine) old high school has beaten his new school a couple times in football since he's been the principal.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
I really can't say much. I switched NFL teams last year after following one for 20+ years. Yes, me, at the time a 35 year old man, switched teams. Feels good though and was meant to happen years ago but I was afraid to be judged.
I bring it up though because it's tough to talk as a fan because I just became one. . I never trash talk anyway, but I really don't say "we" or "us" with this team.
I was surprised I didn't get more flack for my choice, but I got a few jokes and that was about it.Comment

Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
From the 49ers to the Dallas Cowboys, crazy huh? I have my reasons and they seem justifiable reasons to switch. I understand it's a "no-no", but no turning back now. It was a long marriage that I wanted out of years ago, just didn't know how to tell her. And to tell you the truth, it just feels right.
My reasons that I posted here last year in June. No regrets.
SpoilerI think I may do something I never thought I would and something I don't usually suggest others to do, I think I may become a Dallas Cowboys fans. It's a decision that's been on the surface for years, around 8 if I am being honest with myself. I watch a ton of Cowboys games, (watched more Cowboys games than Niners last year since I don't have DirecTV anymore) follow the team, know the history, listen to Dallas sports talk, defending Romo to Cowboys fans for years, other than actually rooting for them and wearing their gear, I am probably a Cowboys fan.
I am born and raised in Texas and am a fan of Texas teams other than the NFL. This change isn't because the Niners are in the position they are in now, this change is something I've battled with for a while. It's not like I am jumping on the ship of a defending Super Bowl champion here. I've been a Niners fan for 20+ years, but I don't hate the Cowboys. I haven't had that type of feeling since I was like 14/15, I am 35 now. It's weird to even consider and I don't even know how I would make the transition. Everyone knows me knows I am a Niners fan. I am so confused and conflicted! Would be very weird, but I think this is the year. To be honest, this change should have happened many moons ago.Comment

Re: Do you use the word "we" or "us" when you talk about your favorite sports team?
So alternative thought to this.... for you guys who refer to your team as "we" and "us", then it would be okay for me to say to you "you" when talking to you about your team?
For example, if you're a Penguins fan, and I think that you guys play dirty, I can simply say to you, "you're nothing but a bunch of dirty players" or "you play dirty" or the like?Comment
