Best part of watching a bit of the Royal Wedding for me was that the Queen didn't sing the anthem and the "God Save the queen" bit

I have a frog loose in my basement right now. The chase is on. Tried putting him in a cup and he bolted and now I can't find him.

Have a bird around my house that attacks people(its protecting its nest, but attacks anyone within eyes view of the nest). Couldn't go anywhere(driveway, yard, even simply opening a door) without the bird coming out of nowhere and preparing to attack. In past years, in addition to this, it would also attack anyone walking by on the sidewalk.

Finally found the nest and with help, removed it. While the nest was coming down, it was like a scene out of The Birds. The male/female birds were both obviously angry, along with their friendS that also came down to help. Now I gotta be on "nest watch" to make sure there's no future attempts to build another one.

Long story short, Alfred Hitchcocks 'The Birds' isn't just a fictional story. I'm living a real life version of it.

Lol. Well after the picture. Grabbed a cup and lid and he took off after I went for him.

There are academics who make this question the focus of their careers.
They've written entire books about it.

Ever see the video of the ballerina? Some people see her rotating clockwise, others counterclockwise. Some can even see both directions. Yet as far as I know, that never became a thing like this has.

It's because it's seemingly so obvious. It's so hard to believe that something you perceive with 100% confidence is perceived differently by another person beside you. There aren't too many illusions like that.

That illusion is decades old. If it was first "discovered" during the social media era, it might have. And these things only have a shelf life of a couple of weeks. You'll stop hearing about it by Memorial Day.

I can make it change (I have to look at the bottom foot to perceive the other direction). But until I do, she's spinning the same way each time.

Well, for starters, politics I think fits your description to a "T" lol. The nice thing about these viral "things" is, unlike politics, a stupid dress color/name sound doesn't have the same level of seriousness or reality built into it. I think people like to get worked up over low stakes things for a change. It's more lighthearted.

I'd imagine there are a lot of analogous puzzles and sensory questions like the most recent one; it's just that these didn't get as big. Heck, I've seen some captchas and ink blots that are about as interesting. That's the interesting part to me--not the meme/puzzle/debated "thing" itself.

Yes, politics do fit it to a T, which is why they are also so divisive. And I agree, that this is all in good fun.

Inkblots are pretty different than things like we've been discussing, but I get what you're saying.

do you know what type of birds they are? I remember living in an area when I was a kid that had red winged blackbirds and they were vicious, they'd dive bomb people and drill them right in the head, it was terrifying

Ya, it was red winged blackbirds. Those are only kinds I've ever seen do this.

Looking directly at them will scare them off from diving at your head. I've done that and it works. However, you don't forget that feeling of hearing loud screeching noise diving towards your head, and then wings flapping and claw on your head. Luckily I wear a hat, but could still feel it. People laugh at me for this, but if they were ever in this situation the amount of times I have been, they'd feel the same way.

That's literally the only kind of bird I've ever had an issue with. All others around me are fine. Some have built nests almost right by a door and don't care. I'll even help them out(throw old bread) on occasion, especially if those ones got baby birds. Some birds even look forward to it(they'll anticipate food by simply waiting around if they recognize who is present). But those red wing blackbirds are jerks.

I remember any time I rode my bike down that area I'd keep my head on a swivel to try and ward them off, but man, if you forget, or you're in the early stages and don't really know the deal yet, that machine gun wing flap sound sticks with you.

It's weird in hindsight lol, these tiny little kamikaze birds can instill fear in someone 100x their size, in a way I respect their temerity

Find out what other birds are predators to them, download audio of that bird's noise, then play it and see if it scares them away.

I've done it to get rid of robins and it worked really well. They're obviously different birds, but eh...might be worth a shot?
