I can't do the long sleeves, or tank tops. I wear the Hanes cool dri t-shirts. Really comfortable.

Depends what I'm doing, but if I'm not doing anything that sweat-inducing, I'll do a long-sleeve t-shirt. Also I'm just lazy sometimes and if I went to the gym in a long-sleeve T, I'll just leave it on unless I get too hot.

On an unrelated note, do any of you happen to go to a gym with really bad air circulation and/or poor HVAC/air exchange? My local gym has the absolute worst airflow, and it makes me wanna f'n puke the second I walk in there. I've complained about it ad nauseum but like any other business, they won't do anything about it until they go out of business (and then obviously it's too late...). But it f'n REAKS in there of gross sweat and BO and it's warm and muggy and honestly I'm kinda getting nauseated just thinking about it.

I'd switch gyms but it's literally 2 blocks from my place and nothing is even remotely in the same ballpark nearby. But when my membership runs out, I seriously doubt I'll re-up.

Seriously I haven’t felt this great in years. Psoriasis is disappearing and I already lost 10 pounds. My blood sugar is perfect (I’m also diabetic) and My joints feel awesome and I’m stronger.

Now it wasn’t easy at first, had 1 or 2 days where I was super anxious. Probably an electrolyte issue or sugar withdrawal. Since then I drink half a liter of water with pink salt a day and haven’t felt bad since.

What’s also a big positive is all my cravings are gone. Went to my nephews birthday party and there was temptation everywhere. Another thing is I only felt hungry twice a day so I been doing intermittent fasting (16/8) and that’s helped with my progress even more.

Negative is that it is expensive especially when you eat steak multiple times a week.

Yeah it is, luckily I can write it off for my business since I own a restaurant. You can find ways to go around it, finding sales at your local grocery store and stock up or get some ground beef and grill some burgers is pretty cheap as well as pork belly and chicken.

As I go on though, I don't eat as much. I've had days where I fasted 24 hours and it was because I really wasn't hungry. When I do eat, I'll eat roughly 2-3 pounds of meat a day.

In the same boat with you guys on this one. The only group class I've really done is spin class but my wife & I have started doing workouts from this lady on Youtube:

She has A LOT of good Cardio/HIIT stuff on her channel. You don't need much equipment (maybe dumbbells up to 20/25lbs) but her stuff will have you burn 400-700 calories depending on how long of a workout you do (30-60 mins).

Actually no not really. I’m surprised to see how much of the meat you actually absorb. From what I understand it turns into liquid and you absorb a good amount of it.

Actually when I was vegan is when I would wreck the porcelain, it eventually got me sick eating that way and messed up my digestion and made my psoriasis worse.

The issue is that there is essentially no high-quality, well-controlled research when it comes to nutrition/fitness. Zero. If you go back and look at primary literature (when there even is any), it's all based on very poor quality, very small 'studies' that aren't even published in any reputable journal. And that's the best case scenario; most of the time it's based on nothing at all. Locker-room talk and hearsay.

At the end of the day, we really don't know all that much about nutrition and its effects on humans. And there is obviously a pretty large variation between individuals and a lot of complicating factors. So anything anyone says definitively about nutrition/fitness is almost certainly just representing an opinion, nothing more.

                          Re: 2018 Fitness Challenge

Oh, wow. I never realized we had this part of OS. The neighborhood, I like it!

Actually pretty happy to find this thread.

I have always had a problem with my weight, from when I was a kid to now at 21. In 5th grade I was already pushing over 150lbs, luckily my first massive growth spurt let me balance out until high school where I hit 200lbs my freshman year. Mind you I was 5'9".

Heading into my junior year of high school I had a minor heart "injury". Basically was a heart attack, but everyone wanted to keep my calm. It didnt work. I went that summer to my dad's who is a nutritionist, and in 3 months I dropped 70 pounds. Going from a 5'10" dude that weighed 250lbs to a 5'10" dude that weighed 180lbs.

Now going into senior year I was obsessed with losing weight...and I started to quit eating food. Whenever I went out with my friends I ate with them, but immediately at home i would make myself puke.

You may be asking where are this kids parents, haha. I lived alone my senior year as my parents moved out of the state but I wanted to remain at my high school with my friends so they paid double rent at their place and the one I lived in.

So I ended up getting down to my lowest 149lbs. Through things I just wont share, I met my now wife, she brought the food lover back out of me and I started a bulk and got back to 180lbs. I was looking good. Had my abs, had a fine lady, all was good.

Now speed up. College and being married have gotten me bad. And my improper way of losing weight caught up to me in a big way. Right now I am standing at 6'1" and 274lbs. I recently have gotten a job offer to be a bouncer at the biggest club in town, haha.

I have attempted some minor tries at losing weight in the past year, but I cant ever get momentum it seems like. I dropped from 284 to 268 this summer before gaining back some weight. So with typing this all out I am throwing my hat into this thread and hoping that me typing in here from time and time again will hold me true at losing weight.

My first goal is to get back down to 220lbs. From there 200lbs. Once I hit that then it is deciding time on how I look. If I want to go balls out and add muscles and try to get to 225lbs of muscle or drop down to 180lbs.

I also have this weird thing. I look solid with a shirt on, of course you can see my lovehandles a bit because I am a big dude, but my belly is really nonexistent. Its when the shirt comes off I have these really unattractive stretch marks that I absolutely loathe.

Glad to see you're back on the wagon as far as fitness. As I always say (ad nauseum), progress is not a straight line. There will be ups-and-downs, times you are working out like a madman and times you fall off the wagon a bit (not even necessarily due to any fault of your own). I think the important thing is to not get down on yourself, don't get into the self-hate thing, just get back on the wagon. It's about health, after all.

No kidding. Haha. Been on the boards for about eight years now and have been strictly wrestling and baseball, oops!

Yeah, that's right. It is all about getting healthy. That has always been something I want to achieve and not get obsessed with like I did when I was younger. Taking this slowly, decided tonight was my last night of fast food for 30 days so ate some Wendy's! I already dont drink soda pop, so thought why not give up more stuff for 30 days and do some working out and see how this goes. Limit sugar, no fast food, and at minimum 60 minutes of physical activity a day.

My knee is starting to bother me again, as it did last summer.

I was really hoping I was going to be able to avoid any knee issues this time around, ugh.
