Re: When You Were a Kid, What Did You Want For Christmas?

Its great to get things you want for Christmas but for me,
one of the most gratifying gifts I ever got, I was disappointed when I got it but a couple years later it wound up being one of my favorite gifts all time.
When I was about 7 year old my aunt bought me a book of uncle remus stories. But within a couple years I must have read and reread all those stories 20 times. Dont know whatever happenedto that book but a few years ago I searched for it at bookstores but all the versions I found were extremely different from the one I had as a kid. Brer rabbit and brer fox and the rest had a huge impact on me and to this day I still find myself being a lot like those characters. Uncle remus>

This could be a thread all its own, but for me, I once got an electric razor as a gift (a nice one), and I thought it was like the most unexciting, pedestrian XMas gift of all time and that I would never use it.

Fast forward like a decade later, and that darn thing is like the most useful thing anyone has ever given me. Amazing gift in retrospect.

        I'm old.

I loved that damn thing. The microphone this was the coolest thing ever back in the day.

My parents never got me and my brother a video game system the year it released. Always a year later after the price drop.

I collected He Man and Transformers. I really wanted Megatron but didn't get him. Ended up trading two or three from my collection to a friend to get one.

I wanted a NES powerpad so badly. Ended up being the first thing I put on lay away and paid for myself. I was so proud.

My Dad never got me and my closest aged brother video games for christmas, which seemed weird because my oldest brothers had Atari and a Commodore 64.

It was great though, my Mom bought me and my brother a Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. We lived with our Dad, so she let us bring the game system to our Dad's with us.

I remember as a kid every year I wanted a keyboard or a walkman. Then I wanted the two cassette style boombox that would let me make my own mix tapes. There was always some pipe dream about combining a keyboard with the dual cassette deck radio and some cheap mic and turning myself into a star

I also wanted a pogo ball, those were awesome
