I'm envious of those moon pictures.

Re: OS Photography Club
It was hard to catch this squirmy worm in action under low light and get him in focus, but I think this was a pretty good still shot of my nephew here:
While there is some artistic color grading here that I went with, I'm not particularly proud of the raw white balance in my camera at the moment to get neutral shots if I wanted, and I'm going to be playing with that quite a bit as time progresses.
Also, I just ordered a Tiffen 77mm variable neutral density filter and some step-up rings to accommodate my different lenses.. I cannot capture any sort of outdoor activity in video form with my desired shutter speed and any sort of low aperture without being way overexposed. Hoping that it comes Saturday in case we end up going to a park again or something.Last edited by Blzer; 01-11-2019, 07:44 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: OS Photography Club
Do you guys do any studying/reading as far as framing and other techniques go? I took photojournalism in highschool, but the only thing I really remember is the "grid" for framing and even that is really hazy.

Re: OS Photography Club
Just watched some Youtube videos and some of my friends out here are professional photographers so I just talked to them. About the only thing I like about Vermont is there are tons of birds and animals to take a picture of. Just go outside in your yard and you will see something out here. Also there is very little light pollution in Vermont considering majority of places out here don't have streetlights so you can see the stars, planets and moon very well out here.Comment

What does everyone use to store backups online? I like to keep all my raw images and then the finished jpeg to share. With Flickr going away, I'm trying Amazon photos since it's free with prime. I have about 500GBs backed up.

Re: OS Photography Club
You have Amazon photo, Adobe have online storage and Google does too. Or if you don't want to do the online thing, portable hard drive or large USB flashdrive. Just depend on how much you have really. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont all look the same. I swear if it wasn't for the signs you wouldn't know which of the 3 states you were in.
During the summer and fall these states up here be packed with photographers trying to take pictures of moose, eagles, falcons, bears, mountain lions, bobcats. And then you have the people who simply want to take a picture of all the mountains and leaf color changes. Then you have the entire astrophotography crowd that come up here taking pictures of the milkyway, moon, planets, constellations and shooting stars.Comment

Re: OS Photography Club
My friend and I took a hike in the Berkeley hills, and I snapped this shot of her in front of the SF skyline (on the other side of the bay).

Re: OS Photography Club
Great thread! I have done some hobby photography for awhile. I like to shoot sports but always did it from the stands. I recently decided to talk to my school newspaper and they were happy to have me on to help shoot photos. I did my first game on Saturday and it was a lot tougher than doing it in the stands.
I currently use a Canon Rebel T2i. I just have the default lenses that come with it for now. I really want to upgrade to a f 2.8 zoom lens. The frames per second with the T2i is difficult to work with as well. I'm looking to upgrade to a 7D Mark II whenever I can scrape that much money up.
The only other sports photographer for the paper is graduating this year so I'll probably have football season all to myself next year.
Also here is the link to the full album. I have some portrait photos that don't format well on the forums.

Here are a couple of shots from my first outing.

Re: OS Photography Club
I finally got tired of only having crappy cell phone pics of my kids, so I went out and bought a D3500 about two weeks ago. I know absolutely nothing about photography, but I'm starting this learning journey in hopes of taking some decent family photos. Wish me luck!Comment

Re: OS Photography Club
I walked along a reservoir trail today with my mom and grandpa and was screwing around with all manual settings at low apertures. Not every shot is in focus. They were literally walking the entire time so I would often just snap shots from behind them (or of behind them, as you'll see in a lot of shots) and run to catch back up to them.
I'll post these in bunches, starting with shots of people, mostly my mom and grandpa.
